To a one, they all grew up in 1950s-1960s lily-white, middle-class, peaceful suburbs, had solid families, were raised Christian, etc...
Yet they have this strange ideological possession for the shifting sands of wokeism, feminism, and gender politics, they rage against any caricature of conservatism, and have an odd hate for white people - and especially white men.
I’m not from that era, so I can’t figure out where it came from. Of course, it is not everyone either, but indeeds its a very noticeable and measurable subset.
Virtue signaling is status seeking—the “right” people believe X therefore I should believe X.
It is rooted in animal behavior—if one deer raises their head in response to a sound the other deer will as well—even if they do not hear the sound.
That is a great survival instinct—better safe than sorry.
It is of course totally irrational—unless you want to be invited to all the “important” social events.
To change their behavior means unwinding their overinflated self-image—not impossible but not easy either.

I’m from the generation, and I don’t understand these miserable shrews. All I can tell you is the times were a lot wilder than the boomers revealed to you. And the angry women have been getting even with society ever since. I was lucky to marry a traditionalist and we are getting close to fifty years.
My father in law has a walker and can do nothing for himself but watch MSNBC and argue for the Democrats. My mother in law passed eight years ago and he is a vessel of volcanic hatred and anger, voting for people and policies that hurt the family that cares for him. It’s the same perspective.
I can back up your statement. Since becoming a widower, I hang around on a dating app, and most women over 60 there declare in their profile, “No Trumpers”.
The problem is you can find plenty of good women over 60 that aren’t crazy like you describe. The worst are white women under 40. 90% of them are Trump hating, self loathing, angry, lonely, miserable women.
