Most people watch the start of a political speech than the end of it. This isn’t sports where viewership grows near the end. The same as with that debate, where Biden was horrible during the top of it.
Also, if the dems really think Trump’s speech is an inflection point for them (it wasn’t), but if Biden thinks he can hold on even more, then the Trump speech was a huge success on that basis alone.
I am glad you diagnosed Trump and clarified what he said.

I do wish he confronted that fat piggie in charge of the ss on Wednesday night. That bee-otch had a LOT of nerve to show her face there. (And I was disappointed I heard that he praised his protection on Saturday in his speech last night)

Yes and this guy in the video below among others prophesied months ago the assassination attempt, the turning of Trump’s heart to God more than ever, and the restoration of America.

Trump has been more measured, less bombastic, more presidential this time around.
I think he knows this is what folks want, tone it down a bit
There are others who willingly play attack dog for him now
Saturday impacted him but it was clear he had toned things down.
With Biden imploding it is smart to shut up and let the other guy hang himself
It’s been a tough 8 years on the guy. Even a 32 year old would be worn out more at 40.
I suspect the original speech was only the first and last 15 minutes of what he said.

Watched a good deal of the evening up until a storm came through and knocked out the power about 30 minutes into DJT’s speech. Unfortunately, what I did see was a little troubling. Don’t get me wrong, I will walk over hot coals to vote for the man but I felt like he knocked the crowd’s enthusiasm down. He had Kid Rock getting everyone pumped, he had Hulk Hogan firing up the crowd and he had a fired-up intro by Dana White, Trump emerges, the crowd is excited, roaring their approval and then...... mellow.......
Now, I do get it and suspect there has been a lot of reflection in the past 5 days due to nearly losing his life. Anybody would and it is perfectly understandable. But that is personal and should be dealt with on a personal level. In my opinion (which is worth about as much as the next guy’s) I think last night during the acceptance speech was not the time to recount and reflect on last Saturday. A brief mention and prayers for the other victims as other speakers had done were fine but last night was the time to roar like the lion you are, DJT. We know you came this close and we are thankful the Lord has other plans for you. Don’t go soft on us now. If you think for a second the left will care at all or call for any kind of cease fire, you are delusional. Don’t let your guard down. Take off the gloves and the bandage and fight.
I too think Trump has toned down the intensity. He said right after the attack that he was changing his speech. Maybe the brush with death affected him. Or maybe it’s a political calculation of Trump wanting to seem like the nice guy while right now a lot of attention is on the Dims’ persistent violent rhetoric.
While I agree with most the speech was too long by 30 minuntes,
this was less a speech than a family talk after a very long separation.
Remember, many of these people have not seen Trump in person since 2020.
I think he praised the guys who ran to the stage and got on top of him. I don’t remember him praising the other SS.
As a President, Trump will have to rely on SS for himself and family members. The SS agents on stage did protect him but there was a change out of his normal SS agents for Jill’s event. I don’t blame SS agents on stage

He shouldn’t “tone-it-down” on the issues. All he needs are: (1) to avoid his prior name calling and personal attacks; and (2) to stay on message with hard hitting but factual issue ads.
In fairness, the plan was already foiled, so they might as well have done “the right thing” at that point.

dittos my sentiment exactly. I love Trump and was always going to vote for him. But the trauma last Saturday has affected him as it would anybody. If it happened to me I would probably be in a padded cell with tranquilizers. I guess our gallant servicemen who experience PTSD can identify with him.
Okay then.
Watching Vivek reminds me of what many said after Reagan’s famous 1964 speech, “A Time for Choosing”, at the RNC: “We nominated the wrong guy.” In this case, the VP.
