SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – The Sioux Falls School District quickly fired an employee Monday who wrote a controversial Facebook post about the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.
In a statement to KELOLAND News, the SFSD said officials became aware of a social media post by a “district staff member” and “the District’s Code of Conduct Policy (GBEB) clearly outlines the high standards to which we hold all staff members.”
“The staff member’s statement does not align with the School District’s values and was not condoned in any way. The individual is no longer employed by the Sioux Falls School District,” the statement by the school district said. “We remain committed to fostering a safe, respectful learning environment for all students and staff and upholding the values of our community.”
You can find the SFSD’s Code of Conduct Policy here.
The post that received plenty of attention in South Dakota and across the country was made by someone that went by Cassie Martin on Facebook. On Saturday, after the shooting at Trump’s rally, she posted: “Shoot — if only he would’ve had his scope sighted correctly.”
She later took that post down and apologized, posting to her Facebook saying, “It wasn’t meant to be offensive so I am sorry if you were hurt by my words. The post was taken down moments after it was originally posted because it wasn’t posted in good taste. It isn’t a great example of who I am and what I truly believe as a person.”
Her Facebook page is now deleted as well.
According to a staff directory on the SFSD website, her name is listed as Cassandra Oleson, and she is listed as a Special Behavior Facilitator at Ben Reifel Middle School.
After the posts surfaced, the school district received pushback. Their latest Facebook post, which was posted on July 10th, had 450 comments as of this afternoon. All of them were about Oleson.
KELOLAND News has attempted to contact the former Sioux Falls School District employee for comment.
ALL DEMOCRATS ARE VILE AND EVIL!
Now Cassie has yet another reason to hate President Trump...
We worked in engineering, not teaching, but the idea's the same. One action can kill a career, if it's sufficiently stupid, or evil.
I smell a lawsiouxt coming.
You have to stand behind what you have to say, even if you’re terminated for it.
Is this one of the special behaviors she facilitates? Fire her and don't replace the position
She’s just a milk toast example of millions of Godless rats.
Back in the good ol' days, people just admitted that they were sinners and [expletive]ed up. Since no one is a sinner anymore, any sinful action is "not who we are." OF COURSE IT IS WHO YOU ARE! And I say that as someone who knows that when Paul called himself the chief of sinners, it was only because he never met me.
That wasn’t meant to be offensive. It was more of an instructional comment.
ISWYDT......................
I’m in Texas, which is a Red State, so we don’t have ANY teachers, or others, like her who are in a position where they have contact with our children.
And if I thought it could happen here, how could I justify sending my kids to public school, and thereby can live a more ‘luxurious’ lifestyle? So, given that, incentive, I’ve managed to convince myself that it can NEVER happen here.
They talk about hate but they believe their hate is acceptable.
“lawsiouxt” - clever :)
I doubt it however. The code of conduct is quite clear and unless it was installed after her initial employment (grandfathered in so to speak), she is bound by it.
Never say NEVER.......................
It wasn’t meant to be offensive so I am sorry if you were hurt by my words.
They should always leave these up but maybe block from receiving comments, etc.. Otherwise how does the public know, in a supposedly free society, that the user was "punished" fairly and not simply suppressed by a totalitarian government collaborating with business in classic fascist fashion?
Facebook can always move such content to a linked directory under its terms of use page under "No".
Was this a Libs of TickTock takedown? Chaya Raichik is relentless.

It IS who she is as a person and absolutely what she believes - she is certainly not one fit to be around children and thank God the school district moved quickly. Here she is worried about it being ‘in good taste’ when half of a country almost lost their Presidential Candidate to an assassination while at the same time, a family man was executed on live television.
Is it wrong for me to hope she loses everything she has and has to dance at a boobie bar to make rent? Awww..... that isn’t in good taste, is it?
