Some preliminary reports (which well might change) say the shooter used a 22 LR rifle. If that’s actually the case, then 130 yards is something. And it points to an amateur, at least to me.

Why would you hunt with a 30-30. I have one and I love it but when I hunt, I use a 308.

No kidding, 130 yards with a rifle is close range, especially for a big man target.

I can shoot under 1/2 inch 5 shot group at that distance...probably with iron sights. Definitely with a scope.

Absolutely. I'm tired of the B.S. that any shot over 50 yards must be done by a military trained sniper or super duper ninja. I was taught shooting by my dad, a 200 yard shot isn't that difficult with a decent rifle.

Competitive son shoots rifle targets that start at 300 yards and go to 1000.

I can hit pots and pans swinging in the breeze from 100 yards out using a lever action .357 with iron sights. I am not sure I could do it with my heart pumping fast and adrenaline rushing through my veins as I am about to assassinate the former POTUS.
