130 yard shots don’t just happen

Posted on 07/13/2024 7:43:55 PM PDT by 7thOF7th

The assassin who tried to kill POTUS DJT had skills as evidenced by the grouping of shots he fired from 130 yards or more with an AR. Where did he get these skills and who helped prepare him for this?

I said I was reminded of the movie. Didn’t say I liked it.
They should make a movie based on John Ross’s Unintended Consequences.
It’d have to be a series, though. That book is HUGH!

"I’d guess dead dude wasn’t a pro - he failed to account for the wind"

My first impulse was to think that at that distance, the wind won't account for much drift. But I had to find out for sure.

Let's say he's shooting a 556 using a 77 grain Sierra OTM. Which I believe is the projectile approved for sniper use by the military. MV should be around 2750. BC is 0.372

So wind drift for a 10 mph crosswind at 125 yards is 1.5 inches. Aiming for the center of the head you've got plenty margin of error even with the wind and even an inch or so of wobble by the shooter. So either the scope was WAY WAY off, or the shooter was experiencing what deer hunters call "Buck Fever" and wobbling all over the place from the adrenaline rush.

That’s not particularly a hard shot if you have decent eyesight - especially with optics.

The odd thing here is that there was no one on that roof already, or assigned *specifically* to keep watch on an elevated building with line of sight on the stage.

Some preliminary reports (which well might change) say the shooter used a 22 LR rifle.

I think that speculation is just because the report wasn’t very loud. Not because anyone saw such a rifle and identified it as a .22LR, rifle.

130yrds with a .223 is a chip shot. I shoot sub-1” groups at 200 with my “run-n-gun” AR... My ACCURATE .223 shoots the center of a Life Saver mint at 200 yrds.

Not boasting... Just years of practice and knowing what I’m doing.

I am GLAD this guy was such a crap shot. They tried to kill my PRESIDENT...

I am not amused...

From what I recall you can site an AR in at 50 yards and it’s accurate out to 300 because the 5.56 nato shoots flat.

Sort of. Not completely flat.

Taking your figures: When one zeros the sights for 50 yards, the barrel - which is below the sights - is pointed slightly upwards, so that the bullet and the line of sight meet at the same point at 50 yards. The bullet continues to rise, peaking a few inches above the aim point at 175-200 or so yards, then beginning to fall, until it again crosses the line of sight at about 300 yards.

Thank you for your first-hand analysis and rebuttal. God, so much BS gets posted in here sometimes.

I thought that he was in the crowd, as they returned fire very quickly.

That he was on a roof, 130 yards away and was on the closest roof, meant that he had to be deliberately ignored. Then once he got a few shots off, ‘they’ were ready to ‘silence’ the shooter - as they already had sights on him. That’s why he was killed so fast.

It’s inconceivable that the closest roof was ignored. It’s an obvious shooter location.

The SS sniper needs to be suspect.

I’m just a layman - but it makes no sense imho, unless allowed to happen.

...or, you leave one building suitable for shooter, let him shoot at president Trump, then ready snipers kill him.
TRUMP “taken care of” - shooter dead, don’t talk.
Back to Bidens elections.
God protected and bless president Donald Trump.
What’s next rats???

Yep.

And it was the closest roof. You’re telling me the closest roof to take a shot wasn’t covered?

Yep. From the closest roof. Not covered? Yeah right. He was a useful idiot, let him get a few shots off and then made sure he was silenced.

It’s as transparent as day.

True... But a lot of good info too. Dramatic events like this take a while to sift through and initial reports are almost 10% accurate...

If this guy WAS Antifa... then they need to be eradicated. Period.

Chinese National? War.

... and yes... even my old fat butt would be willing to squeeze back in to cammies and re-enlist to see it happen.

THIS CANNOT STAND WITHOUT REPRISAL.

This guy was a lousy shot. He could have waited for Trump to turn his head again. This lousy shot took his time for the first shot. He pulled the shot likely from trigger pull and missed at the very same time Trump moved his head as well. His follow on shots wild and not even close. Why did the SS sniper detail appear to have him spotted and fail to eliminate the shooter until after they let him get 3 rounds off? Then they eliminated him so nobody can question him? If the SS detail was told about a roof shooter and were looking for him why did the detail not inform Trump’s body guard to get him off the stage? This whole thing stinks of a set up!!!!!!!!!

A .223 zeroed @ 100 will be dead on at 300... Plus/minus .01” depending on the bullet weight and load. At 200, you’ll be about a 1/4” high.. again... depending on load and rifle.

I’ve shot .223 handloaded out to 800yrds... Got a decent idea of what works and what doesn’t.

Inside 200 yrds... Winchester white box 5.56 55 gr is accurate enough to shoot half MOA with anyone who has more than 1k through their rifle and more than just a YouTube education.

With a drone overhead and at least one SS sniper on the Team? You bet they “let” him...

I am making NO statement as to the shooter or motives, but being a former resident of Pennsylvania (about 40 miles from this event) I can tell you with a certainty that anyone who does deer hunting in PA an make a shot at that distance with relative ease.

Yup. Any decent rifle can hit a silver dollar at 100 yards.

Someone needs an education. 130 yards is nothing. I’ve shot deer at 200 yards, Free standing with a 30-30. Hand hot loads of course. Any decent hunter can shoot and hit at hundreds of yards. No special training needed.

Absolutely. I'm tired of the B.S. that any shot over 50 yards must be done by a military trained sniper or super duper ninja. I was taught shooting by my dad, a 200 yard shot isn't that difficult with a decent rifle.

What evidence?
