“This Is Gonna Get Us ALL Blown Up!” Jeffrey Sachs On Russian Invasion Video— 1/2 hour
Youtube ^ | 6/19/2024 | Piers Morgan

Posted on 06/20/2024 10:01:49 AM PDT by Phoenix8

Economics professor and author Jeffrey Sachs has spent too long in the geo-political arena to take the official US policy on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine at face value. He calls for negotiations in regards to Vladimir Putin’s recent ‘peace’ deal, which demands that Ukraine hand over large swathes of land to Russia.

Although Jeffrey comes armed with a litany of crimes to lay at the doorstep of the collective west, Piers Morgan presses him on the central issues. Isn’t it strange that Putin hasn’t invaded a NATO member? And why doesn’t Sachs hold Putin to the same standard of conduct as the US government?

00:00 - Introduction 01:50 - Putin's plan for peace 08:20 - "The US started this!" 15:10 - NATO encroachment or Russian propaganda? 21:30 - American Interference 27:20 - Will joining NATO save Ukraine?

I was just recently debating a few FR on the Ukraine war issue and since I saw this last night thought I would share it. I wasn’t really a Sachs fan until this video and must say I agree a lot more with his opinion than I thought I would.

It seems there are 3 basic views on FR here: One extreme is Putin is the second coming of Hitler and if we let him win now he will gobble up NATO one country at a time and rule the world. So we have to stop him even if it means we are nuked.

The other extreme view is Putin is a saint and had to defend mother Russia or we would have invaded them next year.

Sachs I think has a more nuanced and historically accurate view and more in line with what I feel true conservatives have. That the causes of this war are Deep and nether side has a clear claim of entirely being in the right. That yes Russia has faults like being warlike in the past but also NATO clearly lied on promises and interfered with Ukraines politics. Etc

Anyway see for yourself.

Good. Torch the planet. That *might* wake people up, at least outside of the US. This country has too many idiots to matter.

Putin is more like the second coming of Mussolini.

But Mussolini is all it took to break up the post-WWI international order. And then it was a free-for-all of irredentism, ethnic and ideological conflict, and then wars of conquest.

The world has enjoyed thirty years of general peace. Everywhere (almost) swords have been turned to ploughshares. Putin has overstepped the rules that have kept the peace, and if the rules are shown to be toothless, then its open season again.

The 500 pound gorilla is China. Thats where your Hitler is. Or your Wilhelm II and Tirpitz. Read “Dreadnought”, Massie.

Why do carpet-bagging filapinas want to lecture Americans on American foreign policy?

Because your foreign policy affects all of us of course. More so, usually, than the foreign policy decisions of any other country affect its own fate.

This should be obvious, or are you just that thick?

If the US were Lichtenstein you may have a point, but its not.

There are definitely at least two distinct narratives. Narrative A (being pushed by the mainstream media and by Biden and Blinken) is that Putin is an imperialist who had no excuse for invading Ukraine, and we must keep pouring money and weapons into Ukraine for as long as it takes to stop Putin from taking over Europe. Narrative B is that the West largely provoked Putin into war by continuing to press for NATO expansion into Ukraine, after he had made it clear many times that he regarded this as an existential threat. According to this narrative, all Putin wants is a guarantee of Ukrainian neutrality, and we can end the war very quickly by agreeing to this. Of course, after losing 300,000 men, Putin will not give up his territorial gains.

Now you are just making excuses for interjecting filapina politics and concerns into an American forum. Why aren’t you posting like mad about the intimidation of the Philippines by China in the South China Sea? Why aren’t you attacking the scourge of poverty in your home country.

Nope, all you do is brag about migrating to the U.S. where we educated your kids and then you retire to Spain. Quite the patriot you are.

I have explained who I am and why I know what I know.
And I have demonstrated it with my prediction tha Europe would not “freeze in the dark” in 2022/23.

But you haven’t explained who you are, nor have you shown that you know anything. You are an empty vessel filled with nothing but a bad odor of resentment and malice.

The guy who actually pushed western military aid into Ukraine was Duda of Poland. Followed quickly by the Baltic governments.

Biden and etc. followed.

Narrative A is the general Euro narrative, across the political landscape there. There are more players in this than just the US. And that also applied to NATO expansion, etc.

NATO was dead for all practical purposes in Feb 2022. Russian “concerns” on that score were and are purely propagandistic.

The DNC is the reincarnation of the Nazis on steriods. A friend of a friend or an enemy is useful in stopping these tolitarians. The 160 nations fkeeing Biden for Brics see what Americans are blinded.

Biden is a figurehead for the current US administration.

The US is not seen abroad as “Biden”. There is very little personalization in this. It is all “The US is doing this” or “The US will do that”. Sometimes it is “The CIA did this”.

It is just the US, and that includes you. And that includes not just current new policies, but stuff that the US has been doing, consistently, since 1945.

Brics is stupid. Its a bunch of people who want to renege on their foreign loans or run deficits without consequences. There is no sugar daddy at the core of Brics.

No, Europe did not freeze in the dark but Germany is turning into a 3rd world country and its industry is dying.

You must be a Biden supporter. There is always a difference in republican and democrat admins. Biden Admin are Chicago Way Domestic thugs unprepared for international relations. The US under Biden has essentially isolated the West economically. The US is broke and wars to enforce our economic empire have shown the world the US can not be trusted.

I would not trust our schools with my children. I no longer trust any democrat, period.

We are no longer the US.

Germany went off the deep end on “green” BS. That was something they were doing long before the Ukraine problem.
Unrelated.

You seem to have difficulty understanding complexity.

US political arguments matter way less outside the US. I have tried to explain how foreigners see things.

Yes, sure, the Biden admin is incompetent, corrupt, and malicious. We know that. But that does not figure as much as you seem to think it does in how other countries’ leadership see the US. A lot of THEM are also incompetent, corrupt and malicious.

What they actually see are a bunch of permanent career officials, in embassies/consulates, the military, agencies and ngo’s, plus the US MSM. CNN is the main US information source outside the US btw. Local news outlets often “cover” US news just by monitoring CNN. You think you have it bad?

The trouble with India paying for oil in rupees is that these rupees must then remain in India. India does not want foreign countries holding rupees abroad.

Also the case with China. You can’t do FDI (foreign direct investment) in Yuan. China requires dollars. Especially now that China FDI has collapsed.

Few want their currency used as some foreigners reserve currency. The only viable ones are the dollar, the Euro, and the British pound. And even less so do these countries want to hold assets, especially financial assets, in each other. They trust each other about as much as sheep trust wolves.

And then there is capital flight, the ultimate in “voting with your feet”. Where does capital flee, when it has to?
