A dangerous, widespread heat wave is predicted to unfold for millions across the Northeast, Midwest and parts of Canada this week with AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures even eclipsing the 100-degree Fahrenheit mark in some cities.
"The increased demand for cooling is going to be a problem here. This could have some impacts on the power grid," AccuWeather Chief Video Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said.
In the Midwest and Northeast, a heat wave is considered to be at least three days with a high temperature of at least 90 degrees, and for some areas, the mercury will exceed that benchmark for most or all of the week.

Not scared — typical summer in my part of the alleged danger zone.
I remember back in the 70s when I was a boy they had a so called nation wide heat wave. Other than our chickens laying hard boiled eggs we got through it. A lot of deaths were lone elderly people. That’s one motive to not avoid procreation-you’ll always have kids and grandkids to check up on you. “Mom! Turn on the AC-I’ll pay your electric bill.!”
You mean they get the heat that we in Florida get for 3 months every year !!!
Chicago experienced its worst weather-related disaster, with 465 heat-related deaths recorded during the period from July 11-27, 1995. Milwaukee was also severely affected, with 85 heat-related deaths recorded during the same time period.
So now we will have global warming weeek in the media.

NY City is predicted to be in the 80s until Friday, where it will reach 91 degrees.
It’s been that hot before in NYC, and yes, even in June.

135 million...120 million have air conditioning...the rest have a fan...the rest after fans going in the Lake and sit under a tree.
