A dangerous, widespread heat wave is predicted to unfold for millions across the Northeast, Midwest and parts of Canada this week with AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures even eclipsing the 100-degree Fahrenheit mark in some cities.
"The increased demand for cooling is going to be a problem here. This could have some impacts on the power grid," AccuWeather Chief Video Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said.
In the Midwest and Northeast, a heat wave is considered to be at least three days with a high temperature of at least 90 degrees, and for some areas, the mercury will exceed that benchmark for most or all of the week.

Refresh my memory with summer 1967.
I’m 80....I still use just my fan here in Upstate. But I’m in a brick building...and that helps.
Oh my God... It’s summer again.
Summer heat, Fall cold, Winter colder, Spring renewal... Nothing ever changes.
The U.S. last year saw the the most heat waves, consisting of abnormally hot weather lasting more than two days, since 1936.
Basically, they admitted that the left was lying to us when saying every year for decades was the hottest ever. The statement above says that for the 80+ years since 1936 there weren't as many heat waves as in 1936.
Thanks.
Now that summer I remember.
Anytime
This is a good time to remind people that Beelzebub Biden wants to take away your A/C to combat global warming.
Wow!!! 90°+ in June!!! OMG this has never happened before!!! We’re all gonna die!!!
If the Northeast weather this week was happening in Phoenix or Las Vegas the chattering idiots would be whining about “global cooling”.
Folks, I regret to announce that I am going to be right in the middle of the “burning ring of fire”. This may be the end.....
Good thing we now have windmills producing electricity! /s
Jim Crow Joe says that a/c’s are boiling the planet. Act now. Just say NO to Jim Crow Joe!
More than likely caused by putting the NWS thermometers at the city airports...and the heat island effect (pavement/concrete/glass/steel)
A long hot summer with a sprinkling of riots, shades of summers to come. I was 12.
The DNC Convention is going to be so much fun.
Yes. In Midwest Arkansas at that time it was over 100 degrees everyday for weeks.
Even so, it ain’t the heat,………….it’s the humidity!
