The comedian Alan King used to have a bit where he’d take a local newspaper and read a portion of the obit where it would say “husband, aged 86, dies of whatever; survived by wife, age 90”. The wives were always older and all outlived their husbands. It was pretty funny.

Is the bread made from flaxseed, by any chance? As far as I know, flaxseed is pure protein and cellulose. No obnoxious carbs in it.

After reading this article, I think I’m going to quit statins. I’m taking them because my testosterone supplements (hypogonadism) are associated with a rise in cholesterol, but if cholesterol is good for me, that’s more of a good thing, correct?

Folks, this was a “study” of a single person who has an abnormal condition (newly defined - a Lean Mass Hyper Responder)
“Oreo supplementation lowered LDL-C more than 6 weeks of high-intensity statin therapy in an LMHR subject on a ketogenic diet”
This article is garbage because the details undercut the headline. I wonder what sort of degenerate needs to attract clicks by writing such nonsense.

Statins are a joke when it comes to lowering cholesterol for heart disease. There is no correlation between cholesterol and heart disease and there’s numerous studies that prove this.... The ones not funded by big pharma or their paid of Drs and universities.

I’ve been on Lipitor (10 mg) for years. My wife and I decided to on a low/no cholesterol diet. We strictly avoided everything that might have cholesterol. At the same time, I stopped taking Lipitor. After six months of dieting I went in for my routine physical hoping that my cholesterol levels would be in in the normal range. Unfortunately, my levels were up dramatically even with the strict dieting. I explained to my doctor about my diet ( no meat, dairy etc.) He said that some people produce their cholesterol and that no diet will address that.

So, I can quit paying for Lipitor (generic) and buy Oreos instead?

Halleluiah! Praise the Lord!................

Your body makes cholesterol. It makes it out of carbohydrates. Eating bread, sugar, High Fructose Corn syrup, grains of any type including rice, will give you high cholesterol. Eat all the meat and dairy you want within reason.

I don't think the article is garbage. They set out to prove a point (which escapes you). The experiment is impractical for the average American and can easily lead one astray if they are not seeing the underlying message.

I wonder what sort of degenerate needs to attract clicks by writing such nonsense.

Clever ones who are heavy into fitness and wanted to prove a point.

Only if one gives the article a perfunctory skimming would you think that. It’s not meant for practical health advice for the average American.

What would that be? An empty bag with some Pork scented Febreze sprayed in to it?

Along those lines, my favorite was a flyer for a rib/sandwich shop in South Side Chicago, "Leon's Plus", where the menu included a "Kosher ham sandwich". I should have ordered one ... with cheese!

Mr. mm’s grandmother had a cholesterol in the mid 300’s. She lived to be in her mid-90’s.

My grandmother also had very high cholesterol. She had a couple of heart attacks in her 80s, but the big one got her when she was shoveling snow, about six weeks before her 100th birthday.

Thank you. I’m doing one capsule per day (2,000 FU), plus Vit K2.

My Cardiologist also wanted me to get away from the BP pills. Is suggesting Berberine, Carditone and Hawthorn extract as possible natural alternatives to try...along with more exercise for this behind a desk engineer.

Lisinopril is usually the most benign BP medicine with the least side effects. i’t’s been around forever so it’s cheap. Depending on high your BP gets, the alternatives may work. Good luck.
