FIVE Guys has abruptly shuttered one of its restaurants but locals say they are not surprised.
The fast-food restaurant in New Milford, Connecticut, shut its doors for good on June 9.
A sign taped to the door of the restaurant over the weekend stated that the business "is permanently closed."
However, officials at Five Guys allegedly told CT Insider that there was no closure news regarding the New Milford location.
Meanwhile, the sign on the door instructed diners to visit another nearby location.
"Sorry for the inconvenience," it read as it directed customers to the Five Guys in Brookfield, which is nine miles away.
The chain has over a dozen locations across the state that customers can still visit.
However, it is not known why the New Milford site has closed its doors, though locals say it is likely due to money.
On a local Facebook group, one resident asked if the closure was true.
Other Facebook users confirmed the closure and reacted to the news in the comments with many saying the same thing about its prices.
"Not such a surprise. Hardly anyone ever in there," one said.
"We love the food, but too pricey for a regular visit. I guess a lot of people felt that way."
"They would have done better with realistic prices," another comment read.
"You can have a sit-down dinner for the price of their fast food," a third said.
"I'm not entirely surprised," one local commented as she recalled being there alone with her family on Saturday night as locals abandoned the diner.
It’s named after a Dad’s five sons.

Five guys is not gay. It’s a father and his sons in business together.
Wendy’s chicken sandwiches are pretty good but their burgers really suckaroo.
always liked them but, i can do that at the sitdown BBQ place at the end of my street, WITH iced tea...
I wish I could get 5 Guys fries with an In-n-Out burger.
Five Guys burgers taste unseasoned and boring to me, but their Cajun fries are the truth, and they aren’t stingy about the portions. If you want a bargain on some really good fries, Five Guys is the place to go.
“You can make a lot better one at home for half the price... Jus’ sayin’.”
You are correct. However, today wife and I went to a local Mexican Restaurant, not a chain. We had a plate of Nachos with beef for $17.27. We always share it. It is impossible for one person to eat it all. It is a large plate piled very high with chips, meat, salsa and cheese. We could not eat it all. It tasted great. We drank water. My dog liked the leftovers.
A double meat burger with fries and just water at all the chain restaurants burger places such as McDonalds, Burger King etc. for two would have been a couple of dollars more. Our Nachos were a superior meal. This is not criticism of the chain restaurants. They are responding to economic reality. They have no choice. They must raise there prices or fail due to Biden economics.
Their food is good but their prices are ridiculous.
I’m glad you enjoyed that...
There’s just no way I could possibly ever eat nachos for a meal. It’s just not ‘meal’ material, IMO. Snack maybe... Not a meal. No matter how much this or that they put on tortilla chips, it’s just not a meal.
I love Culvers.. I wish they would have a franchise out in my neck of the woods (Paradise Valley MT) Asking as a former Midwestener
Tried them twice. Was not impressed.

The quality has gone down since then too.
About two years ago, my wife and I went to to “five guys” and had a meal. We both had a cheese burger and fries. It was a really good burger and too may fries. However, the bill was more than a regular restaurant bill, so we have never been back.
“It is above average. Not that far above average.”
In my area (San Francisco Bay Area), Five Guys is the most expensive of the national burger chains. A standard meal of cheeseburger two patties), medium fries, soda and sales tax will run you about $23. Obviously, McDonalds and Burger King and the like are a lot cheaper, but even local cult favorite In-N-Out will charge maybe $13 for something similar to that $23 meal at Five Guys. Also, the truth is that there are many dine-in, full-service restaurants where a similar meal can be hald for a few dollars less.
Smile when you say that, pardner.
[Looked at their prices in my area. Just the cheeseburger and order of fries shown above (no drink) comes to $15.05 at an outlying location - not in or anywhere near a big-city metropolitan area.]
Overpriced and underwhelming seems about right.
I tried that place once. Their burger and especially their fries were grease bombs. I’ve never been back.
