FIVE Guys has abruptly shuttered one of its restaurants but locals say they are not surprised.
The fast-food restaurant in New Milford, Connecticut, shut its doors for good on June 9.
A sign taped to the door of the restaurant over the weekend stated that the business "is permanently closed."
However, officials at Five Guys allegedly told CT Insider that there was no closure news regarding the New Milford location.
Meanwhile, the sign on the door instructed diners to visit another nearby location.
"Sorry for the inconvenience," it read as it directed customers to the Five Guys in Brookfield, which is nine miles away.
The chain has over a dozen locations across the state that customers can still visit.
However, it is not known why the New Milford site has closed its doors, though locals say it is likely due to money.
On a local Facebook group, one resident asked if the closure was true.
Other Facebook users confirmed the closure and reacted to the news in the comments with many saying the same thing about its prices.
"Not such a surprise. Hardly anyone ever in there," one said.
"We love the food, but too pricey for a regular visit. I guess a lot of people felt that way."
"They would have done better with realistic prices," another comment read.
"You can have a sit-down dinner for the price of their fast food," a third said.
"I'm not entirely surprised," one local commented as she recalled being there alone with her family on Saturday night as locals abandoned the diner.
Whataburger is now just another franchise owned by some conglomerate.
You can make a lot better one at home for half the price... Jus’ sayin’.

Says me. I live on SS. Bills, taxes and insurance leave me with little for eating out or entertainment (what’s that?). Bidenflation has clipped my wings.
I frequent 5 Guys every so often, perhaps a few times a year.
All I ever get are the fries (crispy). It’s only one of two places in town to get fries not fried in toxic oils (they use peanut oil, unlike even chic-fil-a).
Everything else there is lackluster and overpriced.
All of them profiteer on soft drinks except for McDonald’s ($1.29 medium) and Burger King ($0.70 Senior size). Prices are southeastern WA.

I ate at the Mountain View, CA Five Guys once about ten ago. “Pricey” didn’t begin to describe. I think it was something like $12 or $13 for a burger and fries even then. Never went back.
Decent burger, but they’ve always been on the expensive side. I stopped going a few years ago. B
DQ is good too. Both the WHATABURGER and DQ I like are in Texas.
We have no WHATABURGER in NC although We do have DQ here they’re not as good as the Texas ones.
Still better than 5g’s.
5 Guys is okay, however, I’d rather have a GOODY GOODY hamburger. GOODY GOODY is a burger joint in the Tampa. I also love DQ and Hardee’s, but you won’t see me at Checkers...
I have given My report on 5g FF’s.
I have never had a cold WHATABURGER unless it was in a refrigerator at home.
How would you even taste the hamburger on that?
Upstate SC is getting Whataburger, so it might be soon that NC will get some...
For the past five years, I do not seek out Whataburger unless last resort for a quick lunch.
Whataburger stores refuse to cook a fresh burger and instead serve those cooked at 10 am and put in a warmer drawer.
I have asked many times for them to cook me one like in their commercials…“Sir, we do not do that”.
Before long some DC ‘crat will be moaning about “burger deserts” and giving federal $ to subsidize plant-burger deliveries.
DQ, McDonald’s, Burger King, and the rest serve luke warm hamburgers. Here it’s Culver’s. Always hot. Always fresh.
I went to Five Guys exactly once, just after they opened one in Prescott, AZ. Really expensive, the fries were lousy, and they screwed up my burger order. That was enough for me.
I can’t afford fast food very often. Culver’s or In-N-Out are my preferences when I do eat the stuff, but I’d rather fix a really good burger at home.
Local burger joint, two locations and a food truck. $10-11 for specialty burger and fries, well worth it. Wouldn't surprise me if it started franchising.
