In the past couple of years I have noticed there is a complete lake of regard for other posters on this site. Not only that but swearing seems to be tolerated. In the past day I have been called gay, a lair, that I am talking out of my *** and I am full of ****. Do we even have to go into the fighting on any thread about Ukraine or Russia. Even hard facts from multiple sources no longer seem to matter. Instead it is whoever can come up with the snarkiest reply.
Everything has gotten coarser. I do report abuses for f-bombs and taking Our Lord’s Name in vain.
As far as the name calling, well it got worse with Ukraine. Every so often I see someone who sticks around that I disagree with and acknowledge they are in bounds.
A lot of the name calling is not even noticed by me. If the race attacks are too generalized, I call folks out as two of my children are black, so I figure I have some standing, but if they are clearly referring to a subculture, I don’t take that as a big deal, as the subculture IS toxic.
My biggest problem with the environment around here is people who complain about non-political threads. You know the type, “Biden has the finger on the button and Zelensky is tickling him, and you are talking about cheese blintzes?!?!” Yup. THAT is what separates us from Democratic Underground. It shouldn’t be ALL POLITICS ALL THE TIME. Leave that to the Marxists. I love the “This Day in 1864” and Freeper Canteen, and pop culture quizzes, Executed Today, and even the occasional VANITY.
I can’t think of another person who could withstand the onslaught of character assassination, financial upheaval and lawfare that he has had to endure.
Anybody else would have crumbled long ago.

I've been here 26 years, going on 27, and as far as I know, nobody has ever been given an explanation as to why their valid post has been removed. That's between the person who hit the abuse button, and the mod that removes the post. It's their little secret.
I stopped caring a long time ago if my comments are removed. But I do notice when other people's posts have been removed on a thread, and wonder, especially on threads pertaining to the Bidens, what they could have possibly said that would cause it to be removed. It seems to happen quite frequently these days.
I've come to the conclusion that there are some people here that abuse the abuse button, simply because they don't like a meme or comment, even if it doesn't violate the rules. And it seems that those who abuse the abuse button, do so mostly with impunity.
The morons have taken over, unfortunately. The fact there is a regular Qtards thread has hindered any support I have. It’s time to get on board with where stuffs headed or stfu. If you can’t get behind Trump, go from us in peace. We can no longer suffer the average quo GOP line. You either fight dirty or go home.

I'm mixed race. So I call them out on the thread because they're attacking me indirectly. But as long as they're criticizing the subculture like you've pointed out, I have no problems with that. In fact, Chris Rock used to have a great bit on that.
Anyway, we have no room for racists on FR.

I think this is due to the design of free Republic. It really doesn't allow for shadow banning so they either Zot you, suspend you for a period of time, or you keep on going. Because we don't have shadow banning the government has no other recourse except to send trolls our way to shape opinion.

I post less than I used to. I have written many comments and then delete rather than post them. There’s no disagreement without vitriol and name calling. It’s easy to be belligerent when you’re sitting at a keyboard in your underwear in your parents’ basement and the person you’re attacking can’t even see you. Consequently, I never respond to personal attacks.
I just think that one should disagree with someone using facts not stooping to the level of someone like Jimmy Kimmel.
I wonder if they’re dead and their accounts have been hacked or if maybe they were always like that but held back.
