Everything has gotten coarser. I do report abuses for f-bombs and taking Our Lord’s Name in vain.
As far as the name calling, well it got worse with Ukraine. Every so often I see someone who sticks around that I disagree with and acknowledge they are in bounds.
A lot of the name calling is not even noticed by me. If the race attacks are too generalized, I call folks out as two of my children are black, so I figure I have some standing, but if they are clearly referring to a subculture, I don’t take that as a big deal, as the subculture IS toxic.
My biggest problem with the environment around here is people who complain about non-political threads. You know the type, “Biden has the finger on the button and Zelensky is tickling him, and you are talking about cheese blintzes?!?!” Yup. THAT is what separates us from Democratic Underground. It shouldn’t be ALL POLITICS ALL THE TIME. Leave that to the Marxists. I love the “This Day in 1864” and Freeper Canteen, and pop culture quizzes, Executed Today, and even the occasional VANITY.
I'm mixed race. So I call them out on the thread because they're attacking me indirectly. But as long as they're criticizing the subculture like you've pointed out, I have no problems with that. In fact, Chris Rock used to have a great bit on that.
Anyway, we have no room for racists on FR.
One of the goals of Communists is the party all the time.
It is why the family, and religion are anathema to the Left. People expend energies on those things when they could be expending it for the party.
I found your comment about race with respect to subculture, because it is something I feel is extremely difficult for some people to understand and differentiate. What you call “subculture” is what I refer to as “Toxic Black Culture”.
Some people on and off this forum fail to recognize or even accept the premise that there IS a subculture of “ Toxic Black Culture” in discussions that involve blacks. But there most certainly is, and when I see people who make the distinction, I view that as a positive.
