U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, 74, announced she is being treated for pancreatic cancer this week.
Jackson Lee has been representing Texas’ 18th congressional district for 30 years.
In a statement, Jackson Lee said:
“My doctors have confirmed my diagnosis for pancreatic cancer.”
“I am currently undergoing treatment to battle this disease that impacts tens of thousands of Americans every year.”
“I am confident that my doctors have developed the best possible plan to target my specific disease,” she continued, per Fox News.
“The road ahead will not be easy, but I stand in faith that God will strengthen me.”
The congresswoman said she will “likely be occasionally absent from Congress” as she undergoes treatment.
She emphasized that her office will continue to deliver the constituent services they “deserve and expect.”
“I am committed to working with our Congressional Leadership including Leader Hakeem Jeffries and the Speaker of House to serve this nation and be present for votes on legislation that is critical for the prosperity and security of the American people,” she said.
“By God’s grace, I will be back at full strength soon.”
Jackson Lee was also diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 before announcing the following year that she was cancer-free.
The Democrat was elected to an at-large Houston City Council seat in 1989 after serving as a judge.
In 2023, she ran an unsuccessful campaign for Houston mayor, losing to Democrat Sen. John Whitmire.
“My adult life has been defined by my faith in God, my love for humanity and my commitment to public service,” Jackson Lee said on Sunday.
“As a member of Congress, I’ve been honored to be one of the leaders in the fight for justice and equality for all; especially the disadvantaged and the dispossessed.”
“Today, my fight is more personal, but I will approach it with the same faith and the same courage.”
“Please keep me and my family in your prayers as you have always done. Know that you will remain in mine,” she concluded.
“As always, God bless you and God bless the United States of America.”
she wont be missed
Well deserved...
That was a gracious post. I wish I could be that gracious. I am still working on this.
I feel sorry for the cancer
Screw that. She wants us dead.
I know. I understand this is me, and not you or others with a similar sentiment.
Like she gave a $hit about those tens of thousands of Americans before it found her. She's spent the past 30 years destroying this country. Nice to see she's on the destruction end this time around.
Wish Biden had this.
Hopefully, she won't be kicking people out of their first class airline seats much longer.
What choices she makes in her immediate future toward redemption are just that — the future.
Today, though, she is being controlled by, and/or possessed by, demonic entities and needs to not be on Earth. Having sympathy for people who are evil, literally, is something I can’t comprehend.
Maybe she’ll have a come-to-Jesus event soon.
I felt very bad when all those libs were happy that Tony Snow had cancer. I’m not going to take similar delight in this poor woman’s terrible misfortune, as much as she has angered me in the past.
I read the headline wrong. I thought that cancer had been diagnosed with Sheila Jackson Lee.
Hmm...I wonder if she was vaxxed?
It took my brother 22 years ago. I prayer for her as a misguided fellow human being.
F’n retire already.
74 and pancreatic cancer - does not look like a good outcome.

That’s because they get health care us unwashed could only dream of.
Theirs actually works.
“pancreatic cancer”
That’s a rough deal and wouldn’t wish that on anyone. By the time symptoms manifest themselves often the patient is in a stage 4 situation.
That’s a nasty and painful cancer. It’s going to kill her. Fact.
She is a corrupt and despicable person. Not that what I wish for matters, but I would not wish this on her as retribution for the worthless oxygen wasting human she is.
That said, while I would not inflict this on her, at the same time I can’t bring myself to care either.
We are all going to die. I care about the loss of good people. I don’t care about the loss of bad people.
