"It's not a particularly common cancer," says Mark Truty, M.D., a surgical oncologist at Mayo Clinic. "The lifetime risk of pancreatic cancer for any given patient without any predisposing risk is only 1 to 3%."

According to the National Cancer Institute, pancreatic cancer accounts for 3.2% of all new cancer cases, but it causes nearly 8% of all cancer deaths. And the five-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer is just 10.8%.

Here are five things everyone should know about this deadly cancer:

Pancreatic cancer is aggressive and causes nonspecific symptoms.

Sheila Jackson Lee, has pancreatic cancer, basically a death sentence, sometimes it is hard to be a Christian and forgive and pray for a petty mean person.

My prayers to her and her family.

Five years ago this summer I lost my best friend. She was 39.

She died not just from pancreatic cancer but because the doctors misdiagnosed her as having a liver infection and they were treating her for that. By the time she sought a second opinion she was stage four and not far from passing.

I mention this as someone else might have that same experience.

I would not wish this on anyone. Hope she recovers soon or at least has a good quality of life for a long time.

I was under the impression that there are different types of pancreatic cancer, some are treatable and the deadly one(s). I personally know of two people that died in the last 3 weeks of pancreatic cancer. I suspect by the time someone has symptoms and is diagnosed, it’s too late. My friend lasted six weeks after symptoms (stomach cramps) and at first gallstones were suspected. When it was confirmed pancreatic cancer, it was too late for him.

Are you kidding me here? She’d throw you into a gulag and laugh, yet you want to bend right over, or apologize dogeza style, begging for mercy.

Yes. My mother died of PC in 2018 -- 45 days from diagnosis to death.

I often wonder how Ruth Bader Ginsberg lasted so many years. Either she didn't actually have PC or she sold her soul to the devil.

On a family visit, my Mother noticed that her brother-in-law looked yellowish. Up until that point he had no symptoms.

The initial doctor at a local hospital told the family that he probably had a year to live. He changed doctors and found a surgeon at NYU who operated on his pancreas and treated him with chemo.

After all that, he lived just short of a year.

Steve Jobs managed to survive for a while too. It shows all the money in the world won’t save you from this.

That’s odd. I’ve had 4 friends in recent years, all died of pancreatic cancer. Maybe 1 or 2 of other cancers. My circle of friends isn’t very large.

My condolences. My grandpa died from it in 1972. It took him fast.

She’s spent her whole political career destroying this country. I might have been brought up Catholic, but I won’t be a phony now, and lie to wish her well. That would be an even bigger sin than speaking the truth.

She’s the one who treated her staff terribly. I wonder if she regrets that now?

I’m pretty sure I read that RBG’s pancreatic cancer was found fairly early and by accident while working up something else. It doesn’t show symptoms that warrant attention until it is far far too late to treat ( stage 4). I remember reading when she got a Stent placed in her heart for a blockage. I thought, a Stent? Not a wooden stake for the old baby killer?

Even though she's a b*tch, Biden found a position for her in his agriculture department.

Honestly, if she has no chance, I hope she goes quickly. I’d hope that on anybody with this insidious disease. It’s ugly and extremely painful.

I know that’s a doctored photo because his hand is black, but then again - it’s groping her boob. So it very well could be Biden.
