Quit conflating Veteran's Day with Memorial Day by posting stories of the feats of Veterans who did not die while serving. You are disrespecting those who gave all in the service of their nation! Jerks
Thank you
You sound like Joe Biden
Jerk? You are. Veterans are veterans—some lived and some died. We should celebrate all veterans and through that celebration encourage citizens to join the service, not to necessarily die but to serve. Don’t disrespect veterans just because they didn’t die or didn’t serve in combat roles or whatever excuse you might want to state to diss a veteran.
Understood
I give thanks to both veterans and those who died in battle, both.
And yes, today is the day to honor those who died.
Thanks
This is Memorial Day. To remember those who died during their service.
Veterans Day is to remember those who served and are still alive or dead.
Technically you are right, but I doubt anyone but you feels “disrespected”.
Decoration Day
Originally set to clean up, maintain. and decorate the graves of those killed in service, as a special remembrance and thanks.
It’s NOT Veterans Day.
Don’t mix the two.
"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country." --George S. Patton
Grrrrrrrr! So many wrong. Veterans appreciate being appreciated. Armed Forces day for those serving. Memorial day for those that died in service to the country. Veterans day for veterans. Not that hard. But, funny kitten videos on tiktok.
We all wrote blank checks to the powers that be.
That’s what Veteran’s Day is for: the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Memorial Day stands alone.
Memorial Day was created for and is for honoring those who gave all on the battlefield and ONLY them. Keep your mouth shut punk
Let’s not forget Fedgov enshrined it as a “holiday”/3 day weekend for FEDERAL WORKERS.
Well, actually that is what Veteran's Day is for, to honor those who served their nation in battle.
Memorial Day is to pay our respects for those who gave their lives in defense of their nation.
So, perhaps you should apologize to Az Joe?
What to say to those who thank me for my service today
I don’t want to be a jerk. They don’t know. But it insults those who died serving our country. I didn’t. There’s a huge difference between me and them
Today I said thank you and referred them to a good podcast - warrroom Memorial Day special 5/27/2024
Yes, there are explicit differences between the several holidays, I’m not suggesting we ignore that. What I am saying is shame on anyone who disrespects a veteran on any of these days. Period. Whether on a veteran-related holiday, on Independence Day, or on any day of the year. Respect veterans, all of them.
Sorry, not relevant at all.
my nephew ( 50’s) thinks today is a day to remember anyone you knew that is dead now.
There should be an Audie Murphy Day.
