Obsessed with Our DNA: The Rise and Fall of 23andMe
The High Wire ^

Posted on 05/23/2024 1:29:44 PM PDT by Tench_Coxe

When a trusting customer purchases a kit from 23andMe, spits in their tube, and mails it back, they effortlessly provide 23andMe with genetic data on dozens and dozens of their traits. If the intended goal is to discover a family ancestry line, or if they are a candidate for ailments like breast or prostate cancer and other disease-causing variants, then 23andMe may seem like a valuable tool. However, by consenting to let 23andMe run tests, customers agree to user terms set by the company.

(snip)

As the partnership between 23andMe and GSK came to life, besides publicly disclosed deals with Genentech and Pfizer, 23andMe was also partnered with Janssen, Lundbeck, Biogen, and Alynlam Pharmaceuticals to share genetic studies run on anonymous customer data. These alliances continued unchanged once the GSK partnership began, but 23andMe agreed not to enter into any new partnerships focused on drug target discovery for the next five years.

Sixth Column, also known under the title The Day After Tomorrow, is a science fiction novel by American writer Robert A. Heinlein, based on a then-unpublished story by editor John W. Campbell, and set in a United States that has been conquered by the PanAsians, who are asserted to be neither Japanese nor Chinese. Originally published as a serial in Astounding Science Fiction (January, February, March 1941, using the pen name Anson MacDonald) it was published in hardcover in 1949. It is most known for its race-based premise.

Plot summary
A top secret research facility hidden in the Colorado mountains is the last remaining outpost of the United States Army after its defeat by the PanAsians. The conquerors had absorbed the Soviets after being attacked by them and had then gone on to absorb India as well. The invaders are ruthless and cruel. As an example, they crush an abortive rebellion by killing 150,000 American civilians as punishment. Noting that the invaders have allowed the free practice of religion (the better to pacify their slaves), the Americans set up their own church in order to build a resistance movement – a “sixth column”, as opposed to a traitorous fifth column.

The laboratory is in turmoil as the novel begins. All but six of the personnel have died suddenly, due to unknown forces released by an experiment operating within the newly discovered magneto-gravitic or electro-gravitic spectra. The surviving scientists soon learn that they can selectively kill people by releasing the internal pressure of their cell membranes, among other things. Using this discovery, they construct a race-selective weapon that will stun or kill only Asians.”

In this novel exists a “death ray” which can be tuned to the “blood frequency” of various types and ethnic groups. This was several years before the discovery of the structure of DNA.

In 1953?.

BTW, read and had for years a copy of this book. Good read.

There is nothing anonymous about the test. They know who you are, and where to send the results. So great, get a bunch to sign up. Now 10 years later they roll out new insurance plans based on your genetic predisposition to certain diseases. Sorry, Prince Caspian, you dont qualify for insurance ... or we will give you insurance but exclude certain diseases, that they already know people with a certain combination of genes have a higher probability of getting. Now, you can go see the Dr and get your COVID booster, but when you come down with Pancreatic Cancer ... oops, sorry, not covered by YOUR policy, even though your wife would qualify for treatment.

Believe it or not, I never saw even one minute of the series or 99% of other shows.

After my dear wife died in 2022 I hated the silence at home so I binge watch detective shows and this one I never saw.

I still say no one can top this: In the spinoff series The Lone Gunmen , the pilot show was about a plan to crash a jumbo jet with people on board into the World Trade Center in order to make people believe a terrorist group did it. This would allow the government to upgrade defense contractors’ deals and make a fortune for them, rewarding politicians on the side. Plane was overtaken by remote control hacking. The pilots read off the amount of fuel and said they carried no explosives. Plane was shown heading for the upper third of the tower.

That episode was shown March 4, 2001.

There’s nothing mystical about wine and secrets. It just means that alcohol lowers your inhibition and you might end up blabbing.

Since most people go to the doctor it would seem to be pointless to use this organization for such a conspiracy for DNA samples...one that many people are not even going to partake of.

23andMe has a gold mine here. They have the perfect data to train an AI to predict appearance given a person’s DNA and adult picture.

I have been researching my genealogy for several years. I submitted a DNA sample to Ancestry.com and the results regarding my ancestors’ origins confirmed my own genealogy research.

OTOH, I not stupid. I opened a gmail account with a fake name and used it to open the Ansestry.com account and I bought the DNA testing kit with cash. I also use a VPN whenever I connect to the Interweb. So my DNA is not connected to me.

It’s like Facebook. If someone ordered people to post details of their private lives online, there’d be real pushback. Make it social media and everyone’s life is an open book.

The WEF is also trying something similar, disguised as an Individual Carbon Footprint Tracker. That way people can virtue signal about how great their carbon footprint is and all it does it give TPTB LOTS of information to use against you without having to do the work themselves. The sheeple willingly give up that information for them to be used against themselves.

*Smart* devices and Siri etc are just another way of people willingly turning over control of their lives to the government. How convenient to have a *smart* device monitor things so you don’t have to. Until the power goes out and you can’t unlocked your doors.

Selecting which Geneline they want to keep alive and which they want to kill off.

Actractiveness and other physical attributes would be considered. Something like this was tried in the 1930s somewhere or other.
