“Is he a bad texter, or is he over 35?”
Elizabeth Castaldi, a popular US creator, has sparked a viral discussion about the generation gap in texting when it comes to dating.
Castaldi, 27, recently went on a date with a 35-year-old man and she was baffled by the text he sent her the next day.
“Hey, had fun last night. Have a good day,” the man texted.
Then, in true Generation Z fashion, Castaldi took that private message, screenshotted it and posted it online, where it has amassed more than 500,000 views.
She added the caption: “I have to start dating people my own age. But I won’t.”
Castaldi’s confusion at the text message firmly divided the comment section.
Some thought she was being accurate and he was texting like a millennial, while others thought she was being unfair and the text she received wasn’t out of the ordinary.
“I’m confused how is this bad?” one person asked.
Castaldi replied that she didn’t have the “ick” by his formal text message, but his millennial texting style made her unable to tell if he wanted to see her again.
“Let’s be clear, I do not have the ick. I just can’t read him and I really, really want to go on a second date,” she wrote.
Someone else replied and said the problem with the 35-year-old’s text is that it was too sterile.

The GenZ types don’t know how to react to simple courtesy. What did she expect after a first date? If she had any sense she would be after this guy who appears to be a decent type. I laugh when Gen Z women are lamenting why they can’t find a nice guy to marry. That generation has embraced wokism, transgenderism and every other leftist fad turning many of the guys into narcissistists, pajama boy types or the gender confused. This chick should be very happy she found a nice guy.
They are creeping into FR, even in tag lines, I would like to see them forbidden.

I know that every generation seems to be somewhat different that the preceding one. But having an up close view to this is sort of interesting. I have a son who is 32, and our youngest daughter is 19. It’s hard to believe they were raised by the same parents, much less believe they have the same genes. Attitudes about almost all cultural things and core philosophies are miles apart!

I think it was a line from “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” where someone asked Will Smith if his cousin was involved with anyone. “Only herself.” was his response.
She seems a bit nutty and desperate to me.

A man thanking a woman for the date is criticized by the people who don’t like an athlete bragging on his wife helping him be successful by keeping things running well at home.
I disagree; they should bevused sparingly, as text does not contain inflection.
Guy is smart to stay away from this girl (not woman).

If so, I thought it was hilarious (and also refuse to use emojis).
She should have posted a text message she would have found normal and acceptable. Sounds like the guy was being polite but thought the evening was nothing special, no “sparks”. He didn’t mention wanting to see her again.
I think these interactions worked better back when people did them face to face or at least on the phone where you heard a voice and could respond/converse ‘live’.

If her main concern is her phone and what other people think...this guy needs to run.
