DES MOINES, IA (KCCI) -- As storms move through central Iowa, field crews with KCCI-TV captured at least three wind turbines knocked over and on fire.
In the video, which was captured in Adams County, in southwest Iowa, at least three wind turbines were damaged.

Yup.....as woke as the weather channel is I’m shocked they even mentioned it.
Mother nature can be severe without question. Hopefully, no one was injured. I still feel for those who lost everything. Those nearby that dodged the bullet should thank their lucky stars that the path wasn't a few feet shifted.
If only there was some method of generating electricity that was safe and reliable.......................

I guess I’m seeing a much different picture here, there are families who’ve had their homes and belongings destroyed, wiped out by the storm certainly that’s far more important that a few wind turbines being knocked over.
Same storms came through here last night, but went North of us. We had torrential rain and winds up to 50mph - the rain was traveling SIDEWAYS, which is never a good thing.
Branches down here, my greenhouse survived another Big One (Thank G-d!) and we have an appointment in Madison today, so I’m sure we will see damage on the way there and back. All the lawn furniture is accounted for but one of my wind chime clappers was broken - so I’ll file a Homeowner’s Claim for that. *SMIRK*

We were without power from 9pm-3am or so. About 10K people still need power restored, so I am also thankful for a relatively quick fix!
No your correct. The devastating effects of this storm to people is certainly terrible.
I just hope the loss of these wind turbines doesn’t compound the problem by no being able to provide power some other energy source could.
I don’t watch AccuWeather.
Only reason I watch the weather channel is for comic relief.
They forecast the weather no better than my local weather people.....and many times not near as well.
Last year the weather channel said hurricane Ian was gonna make landfall at Tampa almost right up until it hit Fort Meyers.....that’s a 130 mile error on their part, which is considerable.
How many people in Fort Meyers failed to prepare properly because of that error I wonder.
And the weather channel took no responsibility for it.....never even mentioned it.

Weather forecasting and sports commentator predictions...... both great gigs if you can get one.....they can be (and often are) wrong and no one remembers.
I will admit the weather fear porn by these people is off the charts lately
More than likely burning oil and hydraulic fluid....a small environmental impact necessary for “renewable” energy. /s/
The one time they get all that wind, and they can’t even use it.
That’s just it, even as the tornado was approaching they were barely moving.
I'll bet the ocean wind turbines hold up well during hurricanes as well.
