I like to ride off road and paved trails and I used the Nordictrack to stay in shape when I couldn’t ride outside. Cycling is a great workout for knee muscles and cardio while being low impact on joints.

I’ll bet. I used to ride a bike around Homestead AFB and environs. Coral road-rash doesn’t sound like fun.
The local trails on Oregon’s coast are geared towards the more serious trailriders. Hills. Nasty roots, creeks, big trees. I think if you stopped for too long you’d get run over. I need to find some low-key logging road ridges.

One of my friends from High School who was a tremendous athelete [he played professional soccer] was hit by a drunk illegal woman and killed while riding his bike in Miami. She got less time than some people get for burglary plus some probation. Makes me sick to think about it.

I don’t have a pool, and public pool operators measure urine content .... by the gallon. What I didn’t know as a child.

I noticed right away but it wasn’t worth a post. Then later I noticed bray’s error and did a twofer.

The roads east of HAFB were about that deserted. You could see a grasshopper crossing the road 100 yards ahead, and tell it was a grasshopper.

We have two. Love them. I ride about 50% with no assist but love the assist going home against the wind!

My knee joints are better with the low-impact movement.

Just don't get deep into spandex gear queers and groups and sniffing other roadie masher's butts. Most obnoxious dickwads you'll ever meet.
Well, except for mt. bikers. :^)

Is that a skateboard on that dude’s back? There’s a mile-long bridge, north of town that has sidewalks, and “Walk your bike- high winds” signs. Once in a while you’ll hear of some a-hole riding in traffic doing 15 mph up the bridge. Once in a while you’ll hear of one that got blown off the sidewalk into traffic. or just busted up his head, so it all evens out.

Been riding for over 70 years. I ride at least 3 times a week now. Never been hit by a car. Trikes and training wheels on the sidewalk doesn't count.
One of the events I've volunteered for as a ham radio operator was the Wildman Biathalon.
The first stage of it is from NH route 2 in Shelburne, NH to Gorham, nothing very steep.
The south on NH 16, miles of steep uphill, past the Mount Washington Auto Road entrance to Wildcat ski Area, by bicycle.
Then they run to the top of Wildcat Ski Area.
I was at about the mid point of the Route 16 incline.
The first cyclist to go by looked ancient. He was just zipping along, not huffing and puffing at all.
It was about 15 minutes before the next one, much younger went by.
I later found out the geezer was almost 90 years old.
So biking for 70 years and more looks doable.

Not a doctor here, just a FRoctor here, who runs and has dealt with it.
Welcome to FR.
It’s interesting how you know popular FR phrases/terms/posters, etc, for being here such a short time.
