Gay ‘Dr. Who’ actor may have driven away half the show’s audience

It was inevitable that when Disney took over the venerable British sci-fi show, it would use it to advance the LGBTQ+ agenda.

In 1963, the BBC debuted Dr. Who, a show about an earth-friendly alien who zooms around time and space in his “Tardis,” a spaceship disguised as a 1960s-era police callbox. In every episode, he has exciting adventures with his female sidekick and often saves mankind from bad aliens. The original show was retired in 1983, only to be rebooted in 2005. Along the way, the Doctor periodically “regenerated,” allowing new actors to replace the old ones. The latest regeneration is a woke, black, gay guy. When audiences felt he failed in Dr. Who-ness, he told them not to watch...and it appears that 50% of them promptly turned off their sets.

Dr. Who has always been a leftist show because it’s a BBC production. It routinely castigates Christianity, capitalism, and guns (although it’s perfectly willing to have the good guys take up arms and kill in defense of saving England). However, of late, the show decided to take a dive into the sexual aspect of cultural Marxism. When one of the most popular Dr. Who actors returned to the show for a 60th anniversary special, the BBC inserted transgenderism into the plot:

Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary special clarifies the pronouns of the Doctor after Jodie Whittaker’s regeneration. After being called out for assuming the creature’s pronouns, the Doctor asks Beep the Meep what pronouns to use. The Meep says that, rather than using pronouns, the Meep uses the definite article in conjunction with the creature’s name. The Doctor says, “I do that too,” providing a definitive answer to how the Doctor uses labels after regenerating as both a masculine-presenting and feminine-presenting Time Lord.

The seventh put you off? A lot of the fandom hated the sixth.

They had a gay guy on there in a prominent role. Good looking and popular. After he left he had some kind of scandal.

The irnoy is a family can drop more money staying at a european style disney hotel for one week, than actually spending a week on the French Riviera in a nicer hotel.

I suspect it was the way that Georgia Public Television aired the shows.

18 October 1986: Tom Baker returns for a third run.
28 February 1987: Newly cast seventh Doctor, Sylvester McCoy, and producer John Nathan-Turner meet the travelling Doctor Who USA Tour with Jon Pertwee at Mercer University in Atlanta.
7 March 1987: The special Live from Atlanta airs.
21 March 1987: Tom Baker's run is interrupted for season 22.
23 May 1987: Live from Dixie Trek airs.
12 March 1988: The Trial of a Time Lord airs in its entirety.
26 March 1988: Sylvester McCoy premieres.
23 April 1988: Georgia finally sees the Jon Pertwee stories.
14 May 1988: Doctor Who at Dixie Trek airs.
15 October 1988: Tom Baker returns for a fourth time.
11 March 1989: Sylvester McCoy premieres.
1 September 1990: Jon Pertwee returns.
23 February 1991: Still no William Hartnell, Tom Baker's fifth run begins.
7 September 1991: For one night only William Hartnell airs in Georgia.
8 February 1992: As Tom Baker regenerates, Doctor Who ends for Georgia viewers
I didn't see much but fleeting glimpsings of Colin Baker and Paul McGann.   But I didn't see much there either.

“My wife liked David Tennant. To me it looked like all he ever did was run around shouting a lot”

Was David Tennant the skinny Dr-Who wearing a hat and big scarf? I lost track after about 1990. Something better on TV must have come along. Star Trek TNG?

Dr. Who personified the new word, “camp”.

“Camp SciFi”.

“Disney broke it. Right up their own a$$.”
To be fair to Disney, they bought into a down market for Dr. Who. The female Dr had it going downward but with the gay Dr, it took a swan dive onto the payment!

The beloved British series “Doctor Who” did not live up to ratings expectations after its star told viewers not to watch if they had a problem with the progressive messaging of the show. Its cast, former lead, and director have been promoting progressive ideologies recently, while the show’s viewership has been cut nearly in half.

Lead actor and Doctor Who character Ncuti Gatwa already had the second-worst premiere for a season of “Doctor Who” in December 2023’s Christmas special titled, “The Church on Ruby Road.” According to the BBC, the episode had 4.7 million viewers.

This, coupled with writer and executive producer Russell T. Davies insisting that he attempts to curtail “homophobia and transphobia” by presenting these themes to youth, did not yield positive results.

Gatwa’s episode, “Space Babies,” along with episode two, “The Devil’s Chord” significantly dropped off, losing almost half its viewership with just 2.6 million and 2.4 million viewers, respectively

I enjoyed the Tom Baker era but when it switched to Pete Davidson I slacked off until it was nothing.
I watched some of Tenants era but really wasn’t into it anymore.
Just seemed really silly and not funny.
It gonna full gay is humourous in that it has consumed itself as PC often does

I watch a podcast on u-tube called “Nerdrotic” which is for nerds, naturally and they are mighty po’ed at Disney and especially Kathleen Kennedy who has taken their favorite IP from Star Wars to Raiders of the Lost Ark and Marvel franchises and rammed political correctness down their throats and ruined each one.
Which I’m not a big fan of any of those but Disney is in big trouble, stock wise yet the stockholders still reelected their president, Bob Iger who presided over this fiasco.
These nerds tear into these libs on a weekly show called “Friday Night Tights” which can be fun but when they talk over each over it can be too much and it tune out.
It will get worse, much worse according to these former fans!

I forgot Critical Drinker!
I love his Scottish accent and his dog that’s always asleep in the background!
And yeah, they’re all pretty based for the generation they
come from
Especially Gary’s background.
