Some Morehouse College students aren’t looking forward to hearing President Biden speak at their graduation ceremony later this month.
Several gathered at the men's HBCU (Historically black colleges and universities) on Wednesday to call out the school’s decision to invite Biden, calling it purely political.
"The general feeling on the ground is that we don’t want him here," a student named Malik told WSB-TV in Atlanta. "It’s very obvious that we’re being used to score political points and get more Black votes. It is so obvious that it’s just about the presidential campaign."
The students’ issues with Biden speaking ranged from anger at his response to the Israel-Hamas war to a desire to want to avoid politics entirely at graduation.
"We don’t want Biden. We don’t want politics. And we definitely don’t want Biden to come speak politics," one student said.
Another remarked, "There’s a lot more other prominent figures right now that can come to our colleges and universities and speak to us as Morehouse men."
The protest, however, seemed to primarily focus on the war in Gaza. Students were heard chanting "We won’t vote for Genocidal Joe" while holding signs reading "Free Palestine" and "End Imperialism."
Students on the scene also told WSB-TV that they expect a peaceful, silent protest on the day of the commencement speech, though Secret Service officers will be on high alert.

I would suggest this...if he shows up and there’s ample protest signs from black college students...it’ll scare the crap out of the White House campaign team, and mean they need to dump him ASAP and line up Michelle Obama to fit the ‘role’’.
Even with media support and pressure on students to behave, Morehouse will be a tougher audience than he and the Dems expect. Like young people in general, students at Morehouse know that the Biden era is one of diminished expectations.
Will he remind them that he refused to let his kids attend school where there was a “jungle” of black kids?
The democrat base IS black... and Biden never gives a speech or has a rally in the black community.
Looks like progressives want to claim the black base - but they don’t go in the black community either.
Think about what this really says...

As reported by Capital B Atlanta, during an April 23 town hall with Morehouse President David Thomas, students expressed concern about Biden not only being the speaker, but also receiving an honorary degree from the institution. “How are you going to justify what you’re going to bestow on [Biden] on our behalf when he’s basically a war criminal at this point?” one student asked in reference to the honorary degree.
This will backfire terribly. But the choices must have been Slim.

I saw a street interview on this, and it appears that they more don’t want him due to their perceived “support for Israeli genocide against Palestine”. I wouldn’t call this a “he’s losing black votes” deal too much.
I know. This is a “Biden is losing the pro-Hamas vote” if anything.

The effort is not to gain new Black voters but to prevent the loss of rational black voters
