Putin Mocked Over Single Tank at Victory Parade
Newsweek ^ | 5/9/2024 | Isabel van Brugen

Posted on 05/09/2024 7:35:36 AM PDT by marcusmaximus

For the second year in a row, a lone Soviet-era tank rolled across Moscow's Red Square during Russia's Victory Day parade, prompting social media users to mock President Vladimir Putin's military's procession on a day which is traditionally used to display the country's might.

A single T-34 tank participated in the parade in Moscow to mark May 9, or Victory Day, which is the annual commemoration of Nazi Germany's defeat during World War II. Like last year, this year's procession was notably muted in contrast to previous events amid Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine, during which both sides have suffered extensive casualties and have lost vast amounts of military equipment.

"Truly hilarious that the T-14 Armata has been found not only too costly to use in Ukraine, but also doesn't exist in large enough numbers to survive the attrition of the Victory Day Parade in Moscow," said Oliver Alexander, an OSINT analyst, on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"This T-34, the legendary Soviet tank from World War II, was the only Russian tank on display at the Victory Day parade in Red Square today," said Max Seddon, Moscow bureau chief for the Financial Times. "The others must all be busy somewhere!"

The Soviet Union repaid $722 million in 1971, with the remainder of the debt written off. (Source: Wikipedia)

They had received 10 billion 982.1 million. (Source: Wikipedia)

36 nations were recipients of Lend-Lease Loans. As far as I can learn, only Great Britain has finished repaying the loan in full with the 2% interest included, in 2006.

A very strong argument can be made that Moscow is more capitalist than DC or London or Brussels. There is some corruption yes. But it pales in comparison to DC.

It’s actually a big mockery to say that our economy is capitalist. Crony capitalism is about as capitalist as the German Democratic Republic was a Republic.

I read someone that the most “Pro-Capitalist” country ironically is “Communist” Vietnam.

One rule: if an article comes from the American MSM or the British press, you can safely assume that it is saying what American or British intelligence wants it to say.

we sent them 7,000 Shermans and enough steel to build 25,000 T-34s. The Soviets built around 35,000 T-34’s.

President Putin used a familiar hand gesture when cameras were upon him, and sent a clear message to what remains of Russia’s manpower.

Well, that would make you happy, if it were true, but even you know that Russia has far more manpower. However, the sad reality is that Ukraine is now going to use their convicts because they are running out of manpower, because many Ukrainians gave that gesture to Zelenskyy when he came for their sons who they paid exorbitant prices to sneak them out of the country so that they would not be sent to the meat grinder a.k.a. front lines.

This is why I have always been for a peace agreement hammered out by Ukraine & Russia. That was in the process & both sides were in agreement that Russia would leave Ukraine & return all land masses currently in their control, except for the Crimea which Russia determined was essential for Russia's national security. All Ukraine had to do was remain neutral and not join NATO.

Then Boris Johnson went & told Zelenskyy not to make any agreements with Putin/Russia, so Zelenskyy backed out of the deal. I am for neither side, because I stand with America first, but I wanted the best for both Ukrainian & Russian citizens who I didn't want them to be sent to fight each other when it is needless.

All the Ukrainians needed to do was accept the deal for now and elect someone that would sign both trade agreements, however, the EU told Viktor Yushchenko was going to sign both trade agreements, EU & Russian, as it provided a competitive win-win situation, as far as, Ukraine was concerned. However, when the EU got wind of his plan they told him flat out that if he signed Russia trade agreement the EU would withdraw their trade agreement. In hindsight it might have been wise for Viktor Yushchenko to have communicated this to the people, but he decided to heck with the EU trade agreement, and signed just the EU agreement, or even signed both nonetheless, and then let the EU back out of the agreement.

It was all unnecessary, but unfortunately that is not what the powers that be wanted. They wanted a proxy war, with the battlefield to be Ukraine, and the combatants to be Ukrainian, and we all know why because they have told us that they prefer to fight over there than to fight here.

Well, there was no likelihood of them fighting here, until we got involved. So, keep on sporting the regime now in control of the levers of power, and got control of those levers via the theft of the 2020 election, and you think you are the righteous ones.

I view you all as useful idiots who may cost the loss of this nation as a beacon of freedom in the world, and will facilitate the whole world to fall into tyrannical control and make the One World Government more plausible of becoming a reality.

LOL, that was very creative, quite a bit overboard though.

The short answer is “no”, but we did send them resources and materials that facilitated their tank production. We also sent American trucks and tanks. The Russians generally liked the M4 Sherman, assigning them to Red Army ‘Guards’ formations.

Russia's Victory Day parade commemorates the defeat of the Axis powers in World War II.   Having a WWII era T-34 in the parade seems very fitting.

What “victory” is the Ruzzian Federation celebrating?

The Ruzzian tools on FR keep telling us that the Ruzzian Federation has nothing to do with the USSR so why are they celebrating the victories of the USSR?

Lord knows the Ruzzian Federation hasn’t had any victories of their own!

That really fell flat Meggie.   People have ancestors who fought in WWII and are proud of what they did.

We celebrate Thanksgiving every year and credit the celebration to the Pilgrims.   It is our sacred holiday, but the Pilgrim's Thanksgiving feast was in 1621, a century and a half before the United States of America existed.

Please try to get over your propaganda mindset.   It makes you seem dumb.

Why would any country want to advertise every piece of military machinery they have to the world? That would be very stupid of them.

They defaulted on their Lend Lease bill.

I hope you understand that President Roosevelt never expected them to pay it back.   Lend Lease was just a ruse to keep us neutral until we could find an excuse to join in the fighting.
