For the second year in a row, a lone Soviet-era tank rolled across Moscow's Red Square during Russia's Victory Day parade, prompting social media users to mock President Vladimir Putin's military's procession on a day which is traditionally used to display the country's might.
A single T-34 tank participated in the parade in Moscow to mark May 9, or Victory Day, which is the annual commemoration of Nazi Germany's defeat during World War II. Like last year, this year's procession was notably muted in contrast to previous events amid Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine, during which both sides have suffered extensive casualties and have lost vast amounts of military equipment.

"Truly hilarious that the T-14 Armata has been found not only too costly to use in Ukraine, but also doesn't exist in large enough numbers to survive the attrition of the Victory Day Parade in Moscow," said Oliver Alexander, an OSINT analyst, on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"This T-34, the legendary Soviet tank from World War II, was the only Russian tank on display at the Victory Day parade in Red Square today," said Max Seddon, Moscow bureau chief for the Financial Times. "The others must all be busy somewhere!"

His advisors probably should have told him to cancel for the year.
It would be a foolish waste of time, and a waste of resources to put together a massive parade. And it’s actually a brilliant piece of marketing. It’s a reminder to people that they are fighting Nazism once again, and a good way to demonstrate to people the seriousness of it. A Madison Avenue marketing guy could’ve come up with this. Anyone who mocks a single T-34 going down the street in front of the reviewing stand is truly ignorant.
Kyiv in 3 days!
One very big Russian walking down the street saying , “ TANK TANK TANK” ?
Cancellation would be a bad idea. That would give the image of hiding in fear and the new stories for all be about how Ukraine made it too dangerous to conduct a parade because it would be attacked. It would be cast as a big Ukrainian victory. So instead, you scale it back, all the same guys in the reviewing stand, flybys, a single symbolic World War II tank comes by to remind people about fighting Nazism. It’s actually a pretty brilliant plan. Probably the only improvement on it would be if they put a couple of damaged leopards, challengers, and M1’s on flatbeds and pulled them through the Square.
Keeping a ~80 yr old complex mechanical device rolling is generally a non-trivial exercise.
That Russia participated in crushing the original NAZIs is a Good Thing.
During one of the government shut down for during the Obama presidency, the Air Force was unable to do a flyby for graduating cadets from the Air Force Academy. We had a flyby of a couple of World War II bombers and P 51s. That was just because they were unavailable financially from the real Air Force.
Everybody thought it was wonderful. And it was.
I like your idea of using the parade to show damaged military equipment from the war in Ukraine.
You’re kind of a moron so this is the only engagement I will have with you. But the famous three days with never spoken by anyone on that side. That was our own “experts” in DC blabbing on CNN.
Just a straw man.
What “victory” is the Ruzzian Federation celebrating?
The Ruzzian tools on FR keep telling us that the Ruzzian Federation has nothing to do with the USSR so why are they celebrating the victories of the USSR?
Lord knows the Ruzzian Federation hasn’t had any victories of their own!
A Ukrainian father is mourning his fallen son.
When will the world realise that they are asking Ukrainians for too much?

Did we build and send Russia any of those T34 tanks as part of lend lease against the Germans in WW2?
The “cope” is getting ridiculous with our resident deep-state Zeeper propagandists.
Means more to Russians, since they actually know some history. Our Leftist “intelligentsia”, observing and commenting on it?
Not so much.
Russians built those on their own. Lend-Lease may have helped with the production.
In fact, a German general who saw the T-34 for the first time, remarked that if the Soviets could mass produce it, Germany would lose the war, and this was when the Germans were already halfway to Moscow.
Great psy-ops move on Putins part.
The rest of his tanks are off killing Ukrainians.
