The bison of today are smaller than their ancestors of just a couple of centuries ago.
The bison the Great Plains Indian tribes hunted were huge, many standing 15 feet or more at the shoulder.
These ancient animals were much larger than the iconic bison we love today. Fossil records show that one prehistoric bison, Bison latiforns, had horns measuring 9 feet from tip to tip...........

They are called tourons. A combo of tourists and morons. I’ve never been to Yellowstone but where I didn’t see some evidence of their activity. People leaving their vehicles and wandering out to the herd to get a picture. There was one that hung out at OFI when I stayed there and I avoided the door nearest their hangout. Same at the cabins they rent. You just wait until they pass and leave them alone (especially during the rut).
