PIERRE, S.D. -- South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem on Monday killed a bill that would have banned transgender women and girls from female sports, then later issued weaker executive orders that include restrictions but which conservatives decried as political face-saving.
Lawmakers in more than 20 states have introduced similar bans this year, with Republican governors in three states -- Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi -- signing them into law. A federal court blocked a similar law in Idaho last year.
Noem's partial veto of the bill riled GOP lawmakers and tarnished the Republican governor's status among social conservatives. Shortly after the bill died, the governor, who has emerged as a prominent national figure in the GOP, issued two executive orders for a ban, but Republican lawmakers said the orders amounted to little more than an effort to salvage her reputation with conservatives.

You forgot to add FLASHBACK to your headline.
I did like her, I just think less of her now - she gave a wishy washy press conference over why, she was afraid the state would get sued, she wasn’t up for the fight.
You have to fight the fights worth fighting, win or lose - other states got the same laws pushed through.
Especially being a woman, you’d think she would have put up a fight.
“This article is 3 years old.”
Makes one wonder just why this ancient stuff is being dug up?
She had to fight her own party and got better legislation put in place without having a protracted fight in court... that they would have lost.
No, she was swayed by the threats from the financial and credit card industry. So she “found” constitutional flaws and didn’t even try..
She signed a watered down one.
And then she has been getting busy with Cory Lewandowsky.
Not much of a wonder. People don’t like her. Beyond that, any excuse is good enough.
Saw her in person at Sturgis last year. She seems nice enough... As genuine as I expect any politician to be.
Certainly a hell of a lot more conservative than my GOP Rep. Tom Emmer... Now THAT guy deserves some flack.
Every politician in South Dakota is beholden to the Credit Card companies.
Ditto for Delaware.
She left the college girls out of the newer proposed legislation - she could have and should have fought for it.
Go watch her weak press conference and interviews right after, she showed clear weakness.
I liked her a lot for a potential VP, but she caved and chose not fight - we need balls out fighters, or we don’t make it.
“Any “conservative” who thinks they need the government to protect female athletes should grow up and find a new political shibboleth.”
The federal government, under orders from the deep state, are going after women. And men. And children.
Perhaps you have not yet heard.
Weird how you keep harping on her not passing a flawed bill, but not one word on the RINO’s that passed a crap bill to begin with...
We called it.
She murdered murdered a 14 month old puppy!
3yo story, it’s a good thing someone else noticed the date.
I prob would’ve missed the date.
My animals knock me over periodically too.
I’ve seen old threads frequently resurrected here, when they relate to a current issue. I don’t think it’s against any rule.
Don't come here with your logic and evidence. We want to dump on any conservative who does something we don't understand. We are the crabs in the bottom of the bucket.
It all comes down to her not backing down in the face of controversy. Someone is trying to tank her consideration. As long as she’ll stay wrong in her support it’s all good.
Probably the Willard Romney/Liz Cheney fan club are the ones making all the noise.
Well killing off her 18 month old dog probably destroyed her chances of any move up the political ladder. So maybe her true self will now be on display. This decision sure doesn’t dispel that thought.
Not any more. She is done.
Kristi Noem must have a tranny fetish.
