It's "420" Pot Freedom Day (vanity thread)
BipolarBob ^ | 4/20/2024 | BipolarBob

I do not advocate for pot, only for the individuals right to choose. I don't use it. It has an odor. It's bad for the lungs. I never got a euphoric "high" when I did try it. it's a nothingburger for me personally. I do have friends who partake (vets with PTSD).
It is certainly less harmful than fentanyl, heroin and all of the other Schedule 1 drugs and never should have been classified as such.

The only thing I can say in its defense is I hear that some of the nurses in rehab are supposedly pretty . . nice. But even that's not enough to tempt me with what some call the devils weed. YMMV

Air smells like skunk again everywhere in Tacoma, WA!

No air pollution like skunkweed.

If you smoke pot this is the perfect day to stop for good. That is your pot freedom!

I support that as well. It's just the mandates and prohibitions I don't like.

Pot is legal in California, where I live.

I am allergic to the smoke - husband swore it was the only thing that alleviated his cancer pain, but I insisted he smoke it in the garage. Later, he switched to the concentrated tinctures, which were very expensive. We also got CBD for our elderly arthritic dogs and that seemed to help.

I don’t have a problem with what people do in the privacy of their own homes - as long as they don’t do something stupid like get behind the wheel of a car. It seems there is an uptick of automobile accidents on our freeways lately, especially people going the wrong direction at high speeds causing catastrophic accidents, I read about one a month. Always wonder if it’s pot.

But then we have lax driving laws here when it comes to illegals and they think nothing of getting behind the wheel of a car drunk - and/or without a driver’s license, insurance or registration on the car. That and there are plenty of people on prescribed pain killers.

Downtown Denver was the same way the last time I was there. And Denver has sunk to a Democrat nightmare. Too much crime, too many people and the city road planners didn’t do anything to relieve congestion. It’s a nightmare to drive in. I’ll never go back. I love the Rockies and Estes Park but it’s too far to drive anymore.

I was the only one, out of 5 other people in my family who didn't smoke, and I'm the only one left. I couldn't stand the smell of the smoke, and the smell of dirty ashtrays made me gag as a kid. Somehow I missed getting sucked into being a smoker. In grammar school, I could always tell my mother was in the audience when I sang with the choir, because she had a recognizable cough.

My father died of lung cancer at 73. My second-oldest sister, and my mother both died of lung cancer at the age 69. My only brother died of a massive heart attack at 51, and my oldest sister, who had been an alcoholic most of her life, and lived in institutions for the majority of her adult life, died of a stroke in 2014 at the age of 74. Had she been living on the street, she never would have lived that long. I'm the only one to have made it past 74. My only goal now is to not outlive my kids. My youngest son, age 53 is a colon cancer survivor. Just got his 5 year clearance, and the dumb ass still smokes.

Possible for a small portion. The majority of it is distracted driving. I see it everywhere. People with cell phones, looking at their cell phones while driving. Eating while driving. Smoking cigarettes while driving. Kids or animals in their lap while driving.

Music too loud. Daydreaming. Never learned to drive properly. Too big of hurry. Kids are stealing cars and wrecking them on purpose (nothing happens to them so they can do it over and over).

"If you smoke pot this is the perfect day to stop for good. That is your pot freedom!"

Never smoked anything in my life. I grew up in a family of smokers, and miraculously got turned off on smoking as a kid. Both parents and a sister died of lung cancer. My sister had stopped smoking five years before due to 4 aneurysms in her brain, which they successfully eliminated through surgery on her inner carotid artery. People don't realize how much smoking affects their whole body, teeth, gums, skin, etc. I'm the only one who got to keep their own teeth because I never smoked. They all had dentures.

Smoking has cost your family dearly. I wish the best to you and yours, maybe your son will wake up at some point. My Dad smoked, but he quit cold turkey waaay back in the early 1960s. I can still remember him smoking. He never smoked another one. My younger brother in law still smokes, cigarettes AND pot, and drinks like a fish. He’s in his early 60s. I honestly don’t know how he’s still alive. He can barely talk, his voice is hoarse from all those years of abusing his body. I didn’t smoke, was a moderate drinker, am I AM THE ONE who needed a new liver……go figure…

My son said the same thing (distracted driving from looking at cell phones) - I see a lot of people in cars looking dazed.

I’ve never had to use my horn so often for people not moving when the light turns green - and I wait a good time before beeping.

There are probably hundreds of medical excuses to smoke dope. I recall several years ago I told a coworker I had glaucoma. He said with a grin that I could smoke the stuff to get relief. What a joke. I use eye drops, they work fine.

I also have PTSD, the combat variety. I wouldn’t even think of using that crap or any other drug other than what’s legally prescribed by a competent medical doctor.

And I firmly believe dope smoking is just one rung on the ladder towards worse drugs, those that create violence or kill a person outright.

The negative effects of smoking on a person’t appearance, especially the skin, doesn’t get talked about a lot. IMO the anti-smoking campaigns should have focused on that instead of the health effects. Young people don’t care about health stuff but they do care about their looks.

Im 61. Retired military. Been getting high on cannabis to one extreme or the other since I was 14. Que that responsibility thing. I am an advocate of all things Cannabinoid. CBD, THC, CBN etc. have made my life better. The 3 lvl back fusion and bad hip joint dont scream so much because of them.
What do I say to the MDs that kept me on opioids and benzos for 20+ years of off label use even through the Covid debacle? It only reinforced my convictions that doctors are trying to kill us. You tell me what Im supposed to do with that.

***Something to do with the planting coffee trees instead of other varieties.***

I am sure Juan Valdez has something other than coffee growing on the other side of the hill from his coffee plantation in Colombia.

See the cartoon at the link for all the damage NM “progressive” libs have done to the state:

https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4197607/reply?c=1

Since the cartoon you can add restrictive gun legislation to things that drive New Mexicans to Texas.

Piqued my curiosity since I lived in the South East New Mexico in my youth. Which have gone to pot? Hobbs? Eunice? Jal? Tatum?

“420” I must not know the meaning of this but over on GAB lots of the radicals are celebrating it as the birthday of the man who turned Europe and Germany into a ruin in 1940-1945. He should have been strangled in the cradle.
