Smoking has cost your family dearly. I wish the best to you and yours, maybe your son will wake up at some point. My Dad smoked, but he quit cold turkey waaay back in the early 1960s. I can still remember him smoking. He never smoked another one. My younger brother in law still smokes, cigarettes AND pot, and drinks like a fish. He’s in his early 60s. I honestly don’t know how he’s still alive. He can barely talk, his voice is hoarse from all those years of abusing his body. I didn’t smoke, was a moderate drinker, am I AM THE ONE who needed a new liver……go figure…

God bless you! Despite not smoking or drinking, I have had health problems that nobody else in my family had. I was diagnosed with a fatty liver in the late 90's when I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. I've only ever taken oral meds for it, and my liver functions are normal. I was the only girl who had kids in my family. My other two sisters never married or had children. My brother married when he came back from Vietnam, and adopted three children...a girl, then twin boys. After 15 years of marriage, my sister-in-law got pregnant, and had a girl. She's married with four children of her own. Two boys, then fraternal twin girls. The oldest son is finishing his second year of college. The second son is graduating high school next month. The twin girls are 15.

There was only one set of first cousins on my father's side. My mother's only brother and his wife never had kids. We never had big family get-togethers because we really had no family. I never knew any of my grandparents. They were all gone before I was born in 1947. I was the only one in the family who had to have my gall bladder removed. My grandmother on my mother's side died on the operating table from gall bladder surgery in December 1946.
