SOUTH CHARLESTON, Ohio (WCMH) — Deputies in Clark County have arrested a man in his 80s accused of murdering an Uber driver while both were being targeted by a “scam call.”
William Brock, 81, faces a felony charge of murder with additional counts possible, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators accused him of shooting Lo-Letha Hall multiple times on March 25 after she went to his house on an Uber assignment.
Investigators first came to Brock’s property, about four miles west of South Charleston in Clark County, when he called them and said he shot someone attempting a robbery. The sheriff’s office said when deputies and multiple other agencies arrived, they found Hall on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, and Brock with injuries to his head and an ear.

He shot her when she was trying to leave. This will not end well for him.
He is claiming “self defense”. He chased her away, and then blocked her exit.
Caught on camera, slam dunk case.
I am curious, is there any attempt to find the scammers?
What a tragedy! If he thought she was going to get a gun, all he had to do was get back into his house, lock the door and call 911.
In that photo, all he has to do is sneeze and she’s a goner. The hammer is pulled back and his finger is on the trigger. I hope they catch the scammer, and throw the book at him, but self defense isn’t going to hold up for this unfortunate man.
“I am curious, is there any attempt to find the scammers?”
One murder committed by two people who had never even met.
They will both do hard time.
It was the relative-in-jail-post-bail scam. Ironically, grandpa had to post $200,000 bail for himself.
That’s point blank range. If he’d used a Byrna she’d be alive with maybe minor injuries, and he’d probably be able to get off with probation.
The scammers deserve accessory to murder.
“Ironically, grandpa had to post $200,000 bail for himself.”
Maybe the old man had to call Cousin Timmy in Cleveland, “I am in jail and need $200k for bail money, I am sending an Uber over to your house to pick up the cash.”
, Brock pulled out a revolver and held her at gunpoint, demanding to know the identities of the scammers. He also took Hall’s phone to prevent her from making calls, and the sheriff’s office said Brock did not call 911 either.
and Brock with injuries to his head and an ear.
Why are some people so hot to shoot someone? I believe I could have gotten into and out of this thing without firing…pretty dam easily. I
I think in many jurisdictions they could be charged with what is called "felony murder"; that is, they were committing a felony which resulted in the death of a person.
Felony murder. But for their idiotic scam, the victim would be alive today. Participation in a felony that results in a person's death is felony murder, regardless of how indirect the participant's role. The getaway drive at gas station hold up resulting in death, is legally guilty of murder.

Idiot.
Why didn’t he call the police FIRST. Why didn’t he call the police after she arrived.
Why was bail set so low?!
He took her phone at gunpoint, prevented her from leaving and then shot her.
Mr. Brock will not be able to talk his way out of this one.
