‘The Golden Bachelor’ Stars Gerry Turner And Theresa Nist Divorcing Three Months After Their Wedding: “Time For Us To Dissolve Our Marriage”

From a Golden Wedding to a Golden Divorce, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist have decided to end their marriage only three months after tying the knot.

The former couple, who met on the very successful first season of The Golden Bachelor, announced the shocking news on this morning’s Good Morning America.

“We have received so much love and support from so many people who watched The Golden Bachelor, and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope,” Nist began. “We want none of that to change for anybody.”

Turner then took over, telling GMA’s Juju Chang, “Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.”

When Chang asked if that meant they were getting a “divorce,” Turner confirmed, “Yes.”

“The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations, it’s been how dedicated both of us are to our families,” he said. “So we look at these situations and I think we just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to, to live apart.”

Despite deciding to end their marriage, Turner insisted that they never fell out of love.

“There’s no doubt in my mind. I’m still in love with her. I root for her every day,” he said, with both of them adding that they will continue their search for love.

Turner and Nist got engaged in the season finale of The Golden Bachelor before they said “I do” in a televised special that aired Jan. 4. The news of their split comes weeks after TMZ reported that they were still not living together, with Turner residing in Indiana, while Nist has remained in New Jersey.

The Bachelor spinoff became ABC’s most-watched unscripted premiere on Hulu, per Variety. Following the success of the first season, the network announced its plans to move forward with The Golden Bachelorette, which will reportedly begin airing this fall.

Well, they now qualify to get on the Golden Bachelor and Golden Bachelorete, again.

But, who is so bored that they have to watch those stupid shows. I only see the commercials for them, and even the commercials look dumb.

People need to get a life that’s worth not having to spend time watching those stupid shows.

Really?

They dated under ideal, if not weird circumstances and then got married after only knowing each other for a short amount of time.

They trivialize human relationships to the level of a game show.

Amen to that. How many of these relationships have ever worked out in the long run? I can only think of the first one Trista and Ryan Sutter who did end up getting married, having kids and AFAIK, are still together.

Set a very bad example, unfortunately.

It's almost as if marriage is some small, fun, temporary and yes, trivial event.

Anyone who's married knows it takes a long long time to get to know someone you wish to share your life with. I was married 33 years (husband died) and I thought many times how little I understood about my own husband.

To be contestants on that stupid show, I suspect there is a written contract that stipulates that a marriage has to take place and the marriage his to stay in effect for a predetermined amount of time, such as 90 days.

Well, it was good, at least, for a golden shower and show. ABS ka-chinged on the kabuki....

and that is, apparently, all that matters these days.

The smart phone is a tool, and it’s very useful.

The way some people USE it is destructive.

(Like guns...)

In the contract.

“the worst thing that has ever happened to humanity.”

Well, there was that unpleasantness crucifying Jesus. Then there was Ghengis Khan, Mohammad, moslem slavers, the 100 Years War, WW I, WW II, Mao, Pol Pot, the Soviet Union among others.

It wouldn’t have mattered which one he picked, people that age won’t leave their familiars.

My wife said he should have picked the woman from California with the horses, but that would have ended up the same way...........

Hoo wee! I’m thinking with that face, they didn’t even constipate the marriage.

Re: Photo in Post 28 That looks like a group of psychiatric study members gathering at a formal dinner.

After looking at the picture again, I found something interesting.

ABC: "OK, ladies, meet on sound stage 3 in an hour in formal evening wear for a photo shoot."

Brunette in front row third from the right: "All I have is a track suit..."
