Tesla doesn’t realize the competition building charging stations:
“Congress at the urging of the Biden administration agreed in 2021 to spend $7.5 billion to build tens of thousands of electric vehicle chargers across the country, aiming to appease anxious drivers while tackling climate change.
Two years later, the program has yet to install a single charger.”
I couldn’t imagine the monthly demand charge for a 200-stall charging station on their monthly power bill.
“Why is the power out?”
Because the station down the street is busy tonight.
Has anyone wondered how this is going to affect the communist/socialist “peak hours” billing situation for customers? Are these stations going to affect rates for the whole area which normally should not? Why should everyone pay a higher rate because one of these stations happens to be in their area? Would the electric companies take advantage of the situation to gouge all customers universally?
Bet on it...
Californicatia doesn’t deserve ANY charging station...but I just had a Great idea! liberal hate buc-ee’s because it has EVERYTHING, along with some great videos so my suggestion is to only put charging stations at a buc-ee’s location. since it takes time to charge and the drivers will be looking for distractions while waiting, let them get some “southern exposure” on how the REAL world lives. might change a mind or two.
Don’t they use diesel generators ro generate the electricity?
Yeehaw Junction has a seedy past... Musk could name it Desert Station' or 'Wolf Pack Station' keeping with our history.
They are going to need another Coal fired plant for that, or will it be electricity provided by air?
Oh look it has overhead cover so they wouldn’t get wet when it rains
I’ve watched people on youtube trying to pay before they charge their EV and then find out it’s costs twice as much ,LOL
Maybe Tesla should team up with Bucee’s.
BTW, Florida seems like a good fit. During a recent trip to Orlando I saw Tesla Model 3’s all over the place.
Yeehaw Junction, Florida - Ha, I just drove passed YJ on way back home from Orlando. I hope they widen the road in that 1 stop light town.
The town will have more chargers than residents. Where will all the power come from?
Might be a good idea to invest in Generators for the starting stations.
Yeehaw Junction, Florida is the halfway point for the Florida Turnpike to Miami. It makes sense since this is a controlled roadway with really only a few gasoline stations in government areas of food, gas, bathrooms… etc. Superchargers would make logic since the alternative is to drive a long way into major cities for recharging.
This is about 25-30 miles dead west of me. There is a huge solar plant, and a nuke plant in the area.
At least it will be fairly clean.
I was thinking of a Buc-Ee’s somehwere
One supercharger requires 250kW power. 200 stalls will require 50 MW! Hope there’s a large natural gas power plant nearby.
