Songs for The Total Eclipse - what's yours?
UCR ^ | 4/1/2024 | Allison Rapp

Posted on 04/08/2024 6:06:58 AM PDT by 1Old Pro

On April 8, for precisely four minutes and 27 seconds, the moon will pass in front of the sun blocking out all light — a total solar eclipse.

The last time this kind of galactic display occurred was in 2017, and although eclipses like this do happen once every 18 months or so, they're usually not visible to people on land.

Of course, what would a global scientific wonder be without an appropriate accompanying playlist? Below, we've laid out 30 Eclipse Songs to jam out to while the moon does its thing.

Okay, no cheating by reading the article, but because it's FR, there is no need to worry as you will all post w/o reading :)

For me, the obvious song is by Carly Simon, "You're So Vain"...

Well I hear you went up to Saratoga And your horse naturally won Then you flew your lear jet up to Nova Scotia To see the total eclipse of the sun

We’ve been hearing about this for some time now. However, Central Texas is “totality” screwed. 100% cloud cover now. Severe storms possible this afternoon.

Mine as well.

The whole travel-to-anywhere-for-bragging-rights phenomenon is beyond me.

It's a celebrity thing, like Gayle King going to the Country Music awards show. She never mentioned it until...Beyonce does country.

A song about a different type of astronomical nothingburger:

It was a great laserium selection, though. Remember the 70s?

We’re holding out hope in my part of Central Texas. We’re on deck for 4 minutes, 13 seconds of totality at 1:38 CDT.
