Old School Memes from FReepers Past
Posted on 04/04/2024 8:11:10 AM PDT by RasterMaster
Before I even knew what a "meme" was, I remember discovering the most incredible ones and knowing exactly who crafted them. Since then, many of their names have escaped me in the span of time. As I reflect on over 20 years since joining FR, I'm reminded of members who are no longer with us (due to bans or departures) but whose art shaped much of our common history.
Calling all our long-standing members! Do any of you recall specific names or have memorable examples from our community's golden era, spanning from the late 1990s to 2010? Share your stories and treasures from the past!

From one of my earliest recollections of the "Meme War" of the 2000 election season.

A lot of the ‘Old Memes’ were stored on sites that either no longer exist, will not allow ‘hot links’ or are now subscription only.................

Seeing AI images lately reminded me of some I remember from the “old days”....I think the FReeper who created them has been banned, so even searching subject matter through keywords hasn’t produced results.
I’ve been combing through old hard drives to see if I had saved anything, but thought a post might stir up some ideas on what I am looking for.

Yeah, Registered had some pretty good ones. Way back in the early days, his “Wheel of Eschoir” meme had me gut laughing.
