"The Constitution won’t save America"

It may be true that a remnant of the old constitution — the old American nation — remains alive in the hearts of some portion of the American people. But if so, it is now battered and bloody, struggling for breath as the new constitution seeks to finish it off once and for all. Perhaps this is the best way to describe the true cause and nature of the existential political and cultural clash that has riven the American body-politic and continues to grow fiercer by the day: it is indeed, as Joe Biden has put it, a final “battle for the soul of America”.

This is the real reason why the Constitution can’t and won’t save us now: in today’s struggle it no longer has any real power over men because it no longer corresponds to the unfortunate new inner reality of America’s unwritten constitution. The old “infallible public spirit, beyond all praise, which directs everything, which protects everything”, which the document once embodied, is no longer there to give it substance.

It sure seems that this is what we’re witnessing today. Whether or not we attribute the key role to Christian belief or to some broader but less easily defined national moral character, it seems clear to me that the Constitution is no longer alive with any such frightful sacred authority; it has been thoroughly profaned, and therefore opened to abuse. Nor is there today even a shared national understanding of its meaning and unwritten spirit. Whereas once few people would have dared try to blatantly twist its words to mean something that all would know implicitly they could not mean, our rulers no longer hesitate to do so — and often succeed. They succeed because that implicit constitution has been replaced.

We can salvage the country and the constitution.
All it takes is for people to do their jobs!!
The house of representatives (non capitalized on purpose) has constitutional authority over the judicial branch.
They can and should be impeaching judges who violate their oath.
How many judges have actually been impeached in YOUR lifetime?
Our strongly conservative buddy, JJ, runs the judiciary committee... How many has he put up?
The house has 2 main jobs, create a budget and control the courts.
They have not done either.

It is now up to the man in the mirror.
Stop electing bush league chamber of commerce worshiping republiCAN’Ts...
If they make it to the November election, simply don’t vote for them.
Vote for the third party person.
The first thing the man in the mirror has to learn is, contrary to deep state thinking, a vote for the third party candidate is not a vote for the democommie.
It’s a vote for the third party candidate.
Accept this little thing as fact, and in 2 election cycles, things will have changed.

Sadly you are correct. Covid proved that all the due process and Rights we were assured could never be taken from us were easily usurped or down right ignored. All the boxes are about removed from the arsenal of freedom. I fear the left is going to force the issue again on the country just like they did in April 1861. They are a violent lot, I pray they don’t go there but know they will, liberals can’t help themselves when they are drunk on power. God help us all when they go there.

Liberia uses pretty much the same wording in their constitution as America does. How is that working for them?

Our country has changed morally, intellectually and demographically.

The Constitution won’t work within these new parameters.

The system is too corrupted to fix itself which we are all being shown on a daily basis. That’s what this “4 year pause” is all about. Only an intervention and temporary governance can put the republic back on course.

You completely misunderstood my point or that of Adams. You must first address the morals and virtues of the populace if the Constitution is to have any binding meaning upon the American people. Otherwise it isn’t worth the paper it’s written on and people are free to ignore it. You seem to believe the Constitution has mystical properties of enforcement outside of the will of the people to be bound by it. That is at best naive, at worst ignorant. Either way, you keep on believing that while the barbarians are at the gates.

We stand in agreement, except for the first pronoun in the sentence. If I was to rephrase I think it would look something like “There is a need to Individually recognize we have become a corrupt nation in need of repentance in order to influence God to intervene in our behalf for the desperate situation we find ourselves due to our forgetting the God who rescued the original founders of these united States”.

Your second question was pretty much irrelevant, since if one is not aligned with the idea of suicide you will be living without the restoration. At this point restoration is just a pipe dream…a drug to keep hope in the legal and political systems alive.

You currently live in a fascist dictatorship under the rule of the fascist White House and the bureaucracy it preserves. This will be very clear when they use their control of the public bureaucracy at all levels of government to fix the next election, after which they can openly do away with the old Constitution and ring in the new Reich.

Leadership still has a big impact upon public morals. That is the major factor; only the leadership has the power to subvert the Constitution.

Oh there is hope…just not in a political victory. The hope is in a population, or a large faction within the population, realizing that the only solution is to rise up and physically, by force, throwing off the oppressive government in all or in part of the land.
