The digital sports media company said it and owner Authentic Brands have agreed to a "long-term partnership" to run the iconic publication.
The owner of "Sports Illustrated" came to an agreement with digital media company Minute Media, officials said Monday, to operate the iconic magazine, two months after mass layoffs appeared to signal the publication's demise.
Authentic Brands, which owns a host of clothing and lifestyle brands, purchased SI back in 2019 and it had been operated in recent years by publishers at The Arena Group.
Then in late January, Authentic Brands said it had terminated The Arena Group’s publishing license, leading to widespread staffing cuts.
Minute Media, best known for The Players’ Tribune and FanSided, said it's reached a deal with Authentic to keep S.I. going.
"Minute Media will oversee all digital and print editorial operations across the SI portfolio, which has been the industry leader in dedicated sports journalism for decades," Minute Media said in a statement.
"Minute Media plans to leverage its premium sports content expertise as well as its technology platform that powers the creation, global distribution and monetization of hundreds of digital content brands, to continue to grow the Sports Illustrated media business."
SI is dead, they are just putting it on life support for a while to keep the organs fresh..................
Sports Illustrated should put fat chicks on the swimsuit issue. Along with trannies.
That should work. Oh wait......
Touting a transgender to promote the brand sends the business straight into the toilet........now where have I heard THAT before? 🤔
Gambling Illustrated.
Minute Media?
Sounds like they intend to be around for a long, long time.
When they put trannys in swimsuits that was their doom...............
What? Nobody likes leftists politics, fat women and hideous transvestites in a sports magazine? Who knew.
Goodby SI, you will not be missed.
I don’t know if it is ‘minute’ and in 60 seconds, or ‘minuuute’ as in very, very small.................
I meant the post bankruptcy assets.
Publishing fat swimsuit stuff and tranny athletes stuff isn’t exactly marketing to the largest potential customer base, is it? Buh-bye.
I think deep state loves flailing media outlets. They’re more easily coerced.
They could still turn it around if they went back to covering sports that men watch, with the occasional swim suit issue consisting of pictures of attractive women wearing revealing swimsuits, instead of pushing woke narratives and trannies.
If not, then they will just be another example of “Go woke, go broke.”
What they are is an entertainment magazine, with sports being just a portion of that market.
There is already many, many sports shows and networks on cable and dish.
ESPN, FOX Sports, ABCNNBCBS Sports, Golf Channel, MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA and Tennis Channels.
SI is nothing new. Anything they are trying to sell, I can get for free elsewhere without being insulted or sickened..................
How many times has Sports Illustrated gone bankrupt, or sold for pennies on the dollar?
It doesn’t matter - as long as some Americans still recognize the name, some deep-state insider oligarch will buy it, and keep it afloat, to issue headlines through the propaganda machine.

May it be joining the list?.....................
Minute Media?
Is that like quick or really really tiny?
Go woke, GO BROKE!!!!!!!!!!
Back in 1975...I subscribed for two years. To be honest, I haven’t read a single copy since the late 1990s.
Aside from occasionally seeing one in a dentist office lobby, not sure who else buys them these days.
