Kellogg’s Faces Boycott After CEO Pushes ‘Cereal for Dinner’ in Response to Inflation

Kellogg’s is facing a boycott after its CEO suggested that cash-strapped families suffering under inflation should eat “cereal for dinner.”

Outraged consumers are planning to boycott Kellogg’s from April 1 to June 30 to send the company a message during the second quarter of its fiscal year, as well as pressure Kellogg’s to lower its prices, according to a report by MarketWatch.

The calls for a boycott come after Kellogg’s CEO Gary Pilnick said that families worried about inflation should eat “cereal for dinner,” and even suggested that such woes are a good marketing opportunity for Kellogg’s, telling CNBC that cereal “tends to be a great destination when consumers are under pressure.”

“Some of the things that we’re doing is, first, messaging,” the Kellogg’s CEO said. “We have to reach the consumer where they are. So we’re advertising about cereal for dinner.”

After being asked if suggesting “cereal for dinner” for families suffering under inflation could be taken “the wrong way,” Pilnick said he didn’t think so, adding that the concept is “landing really well right now.”

“Over 25 percent of our consumption is outside the breakfast occasion,” the Kellogg’s CEO, who has an estimated net worth of $15.7 million, said. “A lot of it’s at dinner, and that occasion continues to grow.”

The same white liberal elites who want us to eat bugs or outlaw growing food at home are probably behind this ‘outrage’. When money is tight people often eat breakfast for dinner.

The jackass should have suggested Granola. I use the cinnamon whole grain for desert after dinner. I’m pre-diabetic and it helps keep my blood sugar down and cost enough to hate leftist, hoard ammo, pay more than ground round a pound for it. It also makes me look forward to knocking the lefty’s little brick💩 house down. Win win for me.

Exactly. This is a case of misdirected anger.

I never really drank Bud Light but I understood that having a tranny pitch your beer is “bad optics” and won’t help you sell much beer.

This cereal guy, his job is to sell cereal. He’s suggesting people eat cereal not only breakfast but for dinner too. That’s just selling cereal.

Boycotting the cereal guy for this is like boycotting a car wash for a midnight wash sale. Not a great marketing idea, but is it really offensive enough to change brands?

I agree with the fact their product is too expensive these days and if the CEO wants more sales then he should lower the price or sell in larger quantity like Malt-O-Meal does.

Voting for DEI, a food executive is surprised to discover the decline of what the company can sell . . . as the portion of the cultural pie that consumed the product, shrinks.

Modern dry cereal is not really a healthy meal any time of day.

What he said was a little flakey and maybe he should be shredded for it but there is a granola of truth in it.
Certainly not worth a boycott.

Imagine; the head of a private sector for-profit corporation trying to get people to buy more of his product in order to increase profits. The Nerve!!!!

Instead of promoting alphabet soup values, or calling half of his customer base racist. How dare he!!!

Next, somebody will develop wadless panties, to make the virtue signalers more comfortable in their righteousness. The perfect name for that product would be "Hubris Underalls, the Basis of Superiority".

Not seeing the outrage.. cereal for dinner probably makes sense for many. My kids do breakfast for dinner about once a week for their kids. It’s whatever the kids want which could be cereal, bacon and eggs, pancakes etc.

Cereal is expensive but far cheaper than steak. Don’t blame the messenger it was a recommendation to a problem not a solution.

Blame Biden’s policies and his war on fossil fuels and his push for the fake green energy BS and climate change crap that has caused inflation.
