In a triumphant display of grit and determination, 18-year-old Audrey Jimenez hit the mat over the weekend and made history by becoming the first girl to win the Arizona state wrestling title while competing against boys.
The Tucson teen earned a Division 1 title, but it took more than just hard work and athleticism to get there. She first had to win matches over boys this season before being crowned champion.
"The crowd was just super crazy," Jimenez told Scripps News Phoenix. "So that's what made it seem more of like 'Oh wow, like I just won state."
While the high school senior said she regularly faced boys during the regular season, when the state tournament rolled around, she had been required to compete against girls for the past three years — taking home the title each time. But this year, coaches asked the Arizona Interscholastic Association to reconsider its stance and allow Jimenez to compete in the boys division.
Her dad Billy and mom Denise said their daughter has always been the hardest-working person in the room. So when the AIA gave Jimenez the green light to change divisions, her victory seemed like destiny.
It's an athletic achievement helping to pave the way for girls behind her to dream fearlessly. And Jimenez is hoping her story can inspire others to always chase their dreams.
"Once you see it done you know it's possible," she added.

106 lbs.
She looks stocky and muscular for 106 pounds. The short video I saw of her looked like she has the skill and enough strength to win.
Title is misleading. She won the state title for her narrow weight class and age category.
Regards,
So boys can wrestle girls now or was this a one-off deal because they found a female ringer in the 50kg class that they thought could beat whatever boy(s) currently competes in that class?
Yeah woman, just like that crazy southern border thingy y'all got goin' on.
LOL! He was brilliant. I remember he use to absolutely infuriate the feminists, just absolute veins popping, red faced rage then they would get even more furious when he would win the wrestling match. He was the ultimate troll
Would Laz?...
That’s what everyone does.
Same as boxing
He came a long way from playing Latka Gravas on “Taxi”…. He of the cocaine cookies…
Funny show, way back when it was ok to laugh.
And Chris Lloyd as Rev Jim Ignatowski….
she’s been allowed to “win”, being used as poster child for the Left.
No way she actually wrestled, in any of her matches, the same as two boys would.
Apparently there was no pretense that this was two boys wrestling. The sport is divided into weight classes, so gross mismatches ought to be eliminated.
Sick and unladylike for women to wrestle at all. Against boys it’s perverted.
How many 106 pound 18 year old boys are there? Has to be very few in the distribution.
Youth wrestling coach here... Nope. Girls have been wrestling boys for several decades now. The boys don’t hold back at all and I have yet to see a boy sporting wood before, during or after a bout. Not even one time.
Seriously? IT’S STATES! You really think a boy is going to let a girl take his title because she’s a girl? No. Not happening. Watch the film. She outworked them, her technique was superb and she’s tough.
1. Boy will not wrestle girls the same as they would another boy, they avoid her breast area. It limits them.
2. It is stimulating for a boy to wrestle a girl.....
____________
Nailed it....
Trophy and title in her hands say different.
No. He could get the boot if he disobeys the ref and continues through a dangerous move or slams her to the mat without following. Slaps, punches, kicks would be different. Seen it happen. We usually blow it off,but we did have to call the cops once up in Detroit because it turned into an all out brawl.
That would get worked out of you in practice. Also, you’d never want to lose to girl... Your bros would never let you live it down.
Ha ha! When Jim sniffs the cookie “Peru..rainy season..spring, 1979” The best is when he took the test for the license “What does a yellow light mean?”
Wow the first trans male to win?
No, she’s true to her sex and pinned many a young men...
