Google has apologized for what it describes as “inaccuracies in some historical image generation depictions” with its Gemini AI tool, saying its attempts at creating a “wide range” of results missed the mark. The statement follows criticism that it depicted specific white figures (like the US Founding Fathers) or groups like Nazi-era German soldiers as people of color, possibly as an overcorrection to long-standing racial bias problems in AI.
“We’re aware that Gemini is offering inaccuracies in some historical image generation depictions,” says the Google statement, posted this afternoon on X. “We’re working to improve these kinds of depictions immediately. Gemini’s AI image generation does generate a wide range of people. And that’s generally a good thing because people around the world use it. But it’s missing the mark here.”

The can’t stop lying, curranty it posts pictures of any people but white men and only white women when they are seen as a couple with other people of color.
It is yet another piece of racist bigotry that they will never be held accountable for.
FWIW, during the Second World War, the Chinese Nationalist Army often wore helmets styled after Germany’s stahlhelm.
More than anything else, I get the impression that the AI is not permitted to recreate the swastika.
Striving to create a more inclusive experience.
The chinese nazi is pretty accurate.
We harvest you organs.
Garbage In, Garbage Out (GIGO).
White woman with black man? Sure...But ask them to put a black man with a jewish woman and you get SCHLONGED.

The Nazis had many black African soldiers.
They used actual stahlhelms, and they also imported modern 1930s German helmets.
The uniforms were also, sometimes, styled after German models. This all applied only to some units, which had been trained by a German military mission. The Chinese girl picture is more or less historically accurate, though women were not really official Chinese soldiers. But in that sort of war anything could happen.
The only possibly off image is the black guy, but in fact Germany had some black residents, former natives of the old German colonies in East and West Africa. The Nazis never really persecuted them, and some did perform military service in German uniform.
A small number, but they did exist.
One man’s nationalist socialist (AKA Chiang Kai Shek) is another mans Nazi.
Ideology is an interesting study.
Garbage in and garbage out.
Same old same old.
Unreal !
Imagine the programming effort to do that exception !
I’m still thinking that “Socialism with Chinese characteristics” is cognate with national socialism. It certainly is not international socialism.
Sun Yat-sen was far more socialist than Chiang, for the record.
And if there were true national socialists in China, they were and are to be found in the CCP. Whence “socialism with Chinese characteristics”?
I will grant you Sun Yat Sen.
I will grant you Mao and Co.
But still, the Kuomintang was “socialist” officially.
Different flavors of similar things seem to hate each other worse than most divergent things.
So was, BTW, Lee Kwan Yew of Singapore, originally.
There were an awful lot of national socialists in those days, and to this day, especially in postcolonial societies.
Its one reason some leftover modern commies do what their predecessors always did
dismiss all old attempts at communism, with the “no true Scotsman” argument. Those guys were actually Nazis! is pretty typical.
Fascinating....it looks like that may be a Rosetta Stone to catching them with their hidden agendas in a hurry.
AI is obviously stupid—but we can use it to figure out what future the evil sociopaths want.
Apparently no blacks are allowed in their bunkers.
How direct do we think the programming was?
I think it unlikely it was that specific.
AI deduced what the master race was supposed to be from clues in all of its programming.
