Do you remember when a trip to Grandma's meant going through her drawer filled with S&H Green Stamps so you could lick 'em and stick 'em into those little booklets? Green Stamps were offered in certain regions beginning in 1896 but they were most widely distributed in the U.S. from the 1930s to the 1980s, with a peak in the 1960s and '70s.
Did you know you can still redeem any you might find lying around? Yep. S&H is still in business, only altered for a digital world. Read on to learn how to redeem them

My mother used to make me lick the stamps and put them in the books. π
Oh God, my Mom used to go there. π
I still had 2-3 books when I moved away. I gave them to my girlfriend for helping me move. Just over 14 months later, I decided I couldn’t live without her and she became my wife, never expressing a desire to return to California except to visit family on occasion. She was definitely a keeper.
Not a bad trade for a few books of stamps.
I got my first set of Walkie-Talkies. And they worked for 2 or 3 years when I was a kid.
It was right next to Radio Shack where you could get your Free Battery of the Month with your club card!.................
I grew up in California in the '50s & '60s and remember collecting and redeeming both S&H Green Stamps and Blue Chip Stamps. As I recall, S& H Stamps had been around for quite a while but Blue Chip Stamps first appeared in the early '60s.
Pic-N-Save have been defunct for decades now.....at least over here anyway.
Used to be one of my ‘hang-out’ places as a teen, they had cheap LPs and 45s........................
INB4 CDC issues report that S&H Green Stamps contained a carcinogen in the glue on the back.
My mom used to collect those.
Everything was cheap at Pic-N-Save......especially the quality of the products. π
I remember the local gas station gave those out. Gas was 23 cents a gallon back then and they would check your tire pressure, oil level and clean your windshield while it filled up. All of that was done with a smile on their face too. And stupid people ask .”what was so great about America back then.” They just have no idea. Come to think of it, none of my teachers encouraged me to pretend that I was a girl either.

The good old simple days. Where the majority of Americans believed in God, freedom, the second amendment etc. until the communist ungodly POS rats took over!! I remember, walking into the S&H green stamp store and being in awe of all the stuff they had.
Us too it was fun and going to the store was interesting
I vaguely remember them. I do t recall what you got from them as I was a little tot then. I used to lick the stamps and place them in the book.
Found two filled Green Stamps booklets while cleaning out the garage.
IIRC, I got a cutlery set from them back in the day.
Fun Times. Got lots of stuff!
Never heard about Watkins. I was born and rained in Rochester, New York, and I only remember the Jewel Tea salesman coming to our house.
