Filming has secretly started on a new series of Downton Abbey.

The period drama – the last episode of which was aired a little over eight years ago – is making a surprise comeback in a seventh series.

Bosses hoped to be able to bring back some of the big name actors such as Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern and Joanne Froggatt who appeared in the previous six seasons and two movie spin-offs.

While it is not known if all of them have signed up, chiefs are said to be 'thrilled' with their casting.

The return of the show, which was filmed at Highclere Castle in Hampshire and which covered the many societal changes and world events between 1912 and 1928, is expected to be on screen at the end of the year.

I’ve watched some of it a long time ago, I just don’t get the appeal.

It moves at a snail crawl....as do the people...and it’s kinda like the movie...Ground Hog Day.

The piano music in the intro is catchy. It’s going to be hard to replicate its success with the actors being 7 years older.

I actually found the show to be a tad bit repulsive. All the servants bowing and scraping around the lords and ladies. “Yes, m’ lord. No m’ lord.”

All it did was remind me of why we had a revolution.

They need to do a prequel.

No one wants to see what happens to the House of Grantham under 20th century post-war UK socialists.

Prequel good call. Grantham as a British officer in the 1880s and when he meets Cora, the early years.

I’m sure the servants for the Rockefellers and Carnigies behaved the same way.

I have been quite busy writing my adaptation called ‘Downtown Detroit’

The appeal is obvious.

Someone will end up marrying a black. And maybe the gay servant will bring his boyfriend over for a visit.

The beginning theme music of DA signals death or tragedy is imminent.

Yahoo. We watched the show several times. When friends join us they end up fixated. Best series I should think in decades. I do not watch commercial tv except for Bluebloods. This public tv which is even worse—is actually a gem.

Yes, several of my friends were crazy about it, so I watched maybe the first three episodes of Season 1 and never caught the excitement.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Revolution or not, DemocRAT Presidents still do that for foreign leaders.
