It was only a matter of time.
Discrimination against Americans
0 - 100 lbs = 50 bucks.
100 - 200 lbs = 150 bucks.
Over 400 (Lizzo-range) you pay 1,000 bucks.
Sounds like Stacy Abrams, Fani Willis, and Big Mike won’t be flying on the SAME Finnair flights anytime soon.
Unless of course it on Wide Body Cargo flights
Heh, airlines had better sit Chris Christie right in the longitudinal center of gravity of the plane or risk total loss of control once the wheels leave the earth. (That is, IF the plan can generate enough lift to let those wheels leave the earth.)
The captain had several of us change our seats, spreading us out more evenly to better balance the plane.
Just load the obesemos with the bulk cargo.
The rest of the passengers will go along.
Will not have that line of porkers in wheelchairs clogging up the boarding process either.
Good idea. You don’t want Big Mike, Lizzo, Chris Christie and Fani all sitting in the port window seats at the same time. The pilots won’t be able to trim the aircraft properly and it will just fly in a circle.
I’m at the airport now. Looking around the terminal I’m very worried about who my seat mates are.
Good start. Now start charging more for human hippoes who take a seat and a half.
More than once passengers were asked to move up or back in order to get the best CG.
If they don’t know what seat you are sitting in this is bogus for ‘weight distribution’
Along the lines of comedian James Gregory bit about being asked how much he weighed for an island hopper flight..
But in that bit, the passengers volunteer their weight and didn’t have to get on a scale..
All eight passengers were weighed on an island hopper flight we once took.
Ignoring weight distribution and balance causes many small plane crashes. The math is the same for big planes and there are a lot of overweight people these days. You don’t want to be a on plane full of folks going to a weightwatcher’s convention.
In the early days of my residency in Pocatello, I flew out of the Pokey airport frequently. Service was provided with an Embraer turbo-prop aircraft. We often had last minute shuffles of seating positions to dial in the weight and balance. Typically final changes occurred after the last of the luggage was loaded in the rear compartment. A few large travelers were relocated forward.
The most equitable approach to charging for air travel is a weigh-in of the passenger and luggage. That gives a neutral figure for the "cargo" to be transported. Seat assignments by algorithmic weight and balance also makes sense from an operator's point of view. It wipes out the notion of first class, business class and coach.
Don’t load all of the anvils in the tail section!
Jus’ sayin!
New way to virtue signal?
Or ray-cissim by another name?
When flying between Maui and Molokai once everyone and all luggage had to be weighed. My ex had to decide whether I or his golf clubs would be on the flight with him. He chose well, and the golf clubs showed up the next day.
A story that was out sometime in recent weeks told of a very nice “plus size” passenger on an airline who paid for two tickets, for himself, to have two seats next to each other, for his comfort and to not burden a passenger next to him.
He was a nice guy, but not every over size person can afford to do that.
