A “person of interest” was taken into custody in connection to the shooting deaths of Wisconsin newlyweds inside a sports bar where the wife worked, authorities announced Monday.
Elkhorn police revealed the update to the case in which Gina Weingart, 37, and her “inseparable” husband Emerson Weingart, 33, were gunned down in Sports Page Barr on Feb. 1.
“Officials have been focusing efforts on an investigation lead that developed over the weekend which identified a person of interest,” the department said in a statement.
“The person of interest has been taken into custody on an unrelated matter as officials continue their investigation.”

A person of interest? That term has zero legal meaning. The moment a cop forms a scintilla of an idea that someone is involved and not just a bystander… they are a “suspect”.
More of the degradation of US law enforcement.

I watch Forensic files. It is only half hour show, instead of stretched out one hour long reality crime shows.

This is sad. Hope the person of interest turns out to be the killer and they get justice.
I was in Elkhorn last summer. Did not go to this bar, but did go to "Someplace Else," A restaurant a block or two away.
Elkhorn is...as I am sure you already know being from Chicago...a few miles from Lake Geneva, a popular upscale vacation spot in southern Wisconsin (Walworth county.)

Smoke on the Water. That was some warehouse on the docks in NJ burned down by the Mafia IIRC.
Wikipedia Lake Geneva
"In 1954, Lake Geneva was one of the three finalists for the location of the new United States Air Force Academy, but lost to Colorado Springs, Colorado.[10]
In 1968, Hugh Hefner built his first Playboy resort in Lake Geneva.[11] It closed in 1981 and was converted in 1982 to the Americana Resort, and in 1993 to the Grand Geneva Resort.[12][13]
Royal Recorders (formerly Shade Tree Studios) was a Lake Geneva music recording studio where artists such as Ministry, Cheap Trick, Queensrÿche, Crash Test Dummies, Nine Inch Nails, and Skid Row recorded albums.[14][15]
Lake Geneva was also home to TSR, Inc., the original publisher of the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game, until its takeover by Wizards of the Coast in 1997. "
