MIKE FRANCESA RIPS 'GREEDY' NFL For Hosting Playoff Game Exclusively On Peacock

Legendary NY sports radio host Mike Francesa blasted the NFL this week ... accusing the league of putting profit over loyal fans, opting to exclusively stream the Chiefs vs. Dolphins playoff game on a paid streaming platform, and NOT free TV.

"The NFL, which has the biggest, the best, and the most loyal fanbase anywhere, decides to basically thumb its nose at its fanbase and just make another greedy reach for another bundle of money, like they need it," Francesa said on his BetRivers show, ripping the NFL for the decision which reportedly netted the league around $110 million.

Mike added, "How many people in America don't even know what streaming is?" ... referencing the scores of fans who don't have access to the streaming platform.

Of course, the Chiefs vs. Dolphins playoff game is one of the weekend's most anticipated (and likely would've brought in 30+ million viewers on broadcast TV) ... but unless you live in Miami or K.C., the game won't be on television.

Instead, fans will have to shell out at least $5.99 for a monthly subscription.

The remaining five Wild Card games will air for free on CBS, NBC, ABC and FOX.

“People wait all year for these playoff games. They love these playoff games and you’re gonna now charge them extra for a playoff game? They don’t give enough, you don’t make enough?” Francesa asked.

Mike isn't the only one ticked off ... loads of fans have blasted the league for the Peacock decision. Chiefs DE Charles Omenihu, who will be playing in the game called the move "insane."

Before moving on with his show, Francesa took a parting shot at the decision-makers inside the league offices.

“They show up and are there religiously every Sunday, and now you’re gonna charge them for a playoff game? It is the ultimate slap in the face to the best and most ardent and most dramatically important fanbase in America."

"Nobody gets the ratings even close to what the NFL gets. It’s never enough. Anytime they can find another pile of money to grab, they grab it with both hands, and it never stops.”

Great Orwell quote.

The NFL is dead to me.

Great website on stadium scams ripping off taxpayers—all sports:

You can search for cities and/or sports for the long and ugly history—blow by blow.

I'm already a Peacock subscriber, so this doesn't really affect me. With the Regional Sports networks already established in MLB, NHL, and the NBA, it's pretty obvious that this is the way it's going to go. As it is, the NFL is the only programming that's generating big live ratings.

Streaming is becoming pretty commonplace now as more and more people cut the cable cord.

If it wasn't for St. Louis Cardinals baseball, I would have gotten rid of cable a long time ago.

*The taxpayer funding of stadium venues is really a state and local matter.*

You’re right. Still, taxpayers in(non-playoff) Atlanta should have the right to watch KC play Miami free of charge. Something to do with anti-trust or some other legal term that protects the NFL from competition. It’s indirect tax breaks for the rich.

Then there’s the taxpayers in those 2 states that have to pay extra to watch. Even if it’s just the land or the eminent domain that allows market-rate compensation for the stadium property there’s still something not right here.

‘Something’s not right’. That’s even better than saying it’s wrong. Let the listener think they’re figuring it out on their own. We’re behind the democrats on these things.

Heck, the stadium prices are outrageous.

I think we're going to see all the fans starting to tune out. All the sports are killing the golden goose. We have many more options for entertainment nowadays. Why should we pay $150 for a VIP seat at a stadium? Or for PPV to watch it on tv?

When the NFL teaches that point, I’ll be thrilled.

Their costs are going up. They should be reducing their costs. They should anticipate that people will spend less money to watch football 10 years from now and plan for that.

After those games were over the BFL network retired them. And again the next afternoon.

The part I hated was the replay late Thursday would have the final score on their scroll.

The hot redhead full nudity was nice on DVD. We quit watching after the 3rd episode of the second season. A bad Godfather set in Montana and filmed mostly in Utah.

When I was doing delivery service for a bit oart time I’d take fancy wine to very hot women living around BGA. The wives were binge watching it.

A monthly Peacock subscription is $5.99. I have it to watch my favorite Premier League team, Fulham. Over the course of six months I pay $36 to watch 38 games. Less than a dollar per game.

Yeah and in 1883 the blonde runs off with the savage who looks like he could be the bass player from Los lobos

Pioneers were terrified of Indians and for good reason

Such bullshit

How much is studio insistence who knows

Sheridan seems mostly ok publicly relatively speaking today

I have to agree, this is a kick in the teeth to NFL fans, the lifeblood of the NFL.

Now I know what its like to be a conservative voter working hard and voting for Republicans only to have them do absolutely nothing for me along the line of conservative policy, just take me for granted and enrich themselves.

The easiest way to handle this is to not subscribe. Make Peacock (NBC) lose money on the deal with the NFL. That will put a quick stop to it.

Peacock probably has a free month, like most streaming services. They hope that a few million will subscribe with the intent to cancel w/in 30 days and forget to cancel.
