People fleeing climate change disasters should be considered refugees
Penn Live ^ | Jan. 04, 2024 | Donald Brown

Posted on 01/04/2024 9:49:55 AM PST by packagingguy

A Sept. 4th New York Times article claimed that migrants on the Texas border were dying from the effects of climate change. The story said extreme temperatures contributed to the deaths of 10 people, with another 45 people forced to flee. The story did not say how many others have become refugees due to climate change, but it’s time for the world to identify them...

The term “refugees” should apply to all people displaced due to climate change.

But under international law, a refugee is a person who has crossed an international border and claims he or she can’t return home because of a well-founded fear of persecution on racial, religious, or other social grounds (1951 Convention 0n the Status of Refugees: Article 1}

People displaced by climate change impacts can’t apply to be treated as a refugees (sic). The international community needs to add a new classification of climate-created refugees because policy and legal adjustments are needed to manage millions of people who will flee the devastating impact of climate change in their regions...

The Army War College also identified three countries in Central America, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador as vulnerable to climate change induced destabilization.

Climate change impacts will continue to create refugees around the world in increasing numbers. We can expect rising sea levels, glacial melting, and changes in precipitation, which causes flooding and drought. We also will see increases in extreme weather, unbearable heat waves, wildfires, the intensity of tropical storms, degradation of ecological systems, and of carbon sinks including forests. plants, and the acidification of oceans.

Well, well, well. We need to have "climate change" refugees, especially from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador because it's getting hotter there than in, say, Costa Rica and Panama.

So all of this chaos on the southern border is really your fault. You probably drove to work today in your gas-guzzling Honda Civic instead of an electric car. You also likely ate eggs and bacon instead of a planet-healthy vegan breakfast.

Does having your country’s infrastructure destroyed to meet pie-in-the-sky “green” goals count as a “climate change disaster”?

It’s the lie of the day. And they all have nowhere else to go but here.

Where isn’t there climate change????

Everything in the world that happens that is bad is attributed to ‘climate change’.

Everything in the world that is good is suggested to be threaned by ‘climate change’.

If leftists got to decide (in the contexts of assylum to the U.S.), then latin american countries would be considered in ‘climate change’ crisis automatically. However, Cuba would be excluded. So would any former soviet block country where the population remembers communist totalitarianism and would tend to oppose the crypto-marxist democrats we have today.

Also, I suspect that democrats in the U.S. would want to exclude any light skinned people from Europe as somehow not suffering from ‘Climate Change’, although they would include those with brown skin.

See how ‘climate change’ works?

I thought the industrialized countries were the culprits and therefore the cause and home of climate change disaster. Isn’t it these pristine, undeveloped nations that are the least offensive? How is it that they are so damaged they have to flee to the home of evil itself? What a crock.

And where exactly have any "climate change disasters" been documented?

This is all such B.S.!

The planet hasn't experienced any temperature increase in 8 years and that is just NATURAL!

NONE of the events previously predicted via "climate models" have ever come to pass.

No more refugees.

No more asylum.

No more immigration. Period.

So this must mean that the United States is not affected by “climate change”.

Good to know.

I dont care if they are refugees or not! no one has the right to enter our country illegally!

And ESPECIALLY not after having passed through dozens of OTHER countries to get here!!!

These are NOT refugees! if they were they would of stopped at the first country they fled to!

Venesuela is not a climate change disaster. It’s a communist leftist deliberately precipitated catastrophe of the highest magnitude.

When the leftists confiscate the products from the providers who then stop producing because there’s no more incentive. Don’t try and blame it on the climate when there’s no more products to distribute.

So “climate change” doesn’t affect the USA or Western Europe?

No, it only affects poorer countries and as such Americans need to pay for the world's poor.

The NBC morning show weather guy periodically shows the US map with portions having a pending rain or snow storm (previously this was called ‘weather’). But no the maps will show areas as ‘5 Million Impacted’ here and ‘3 Million Impacted’ there - as if to say those areas are facing Armageddon.

Yesterday he was making up some other catastrophe. Showing some areas that have had hundreds of days since a drought was ended with a snow storm of an inch or more. What?! Does that mean these areas (many north/eastern states) are in a 1 to 2 year drought? What kind of torture was inflicted on common sense to come up with that?

Theoretically, it’s a global problem. Are the refugees going to blast off-planet?
