The elder Dion explained that while the singer (and her family) hope to see her back onstage, the progression of her illness has left them uncertain.
“It’s true that, in both our dreams and hers, the goal is to return to the stage. In what capacity? I don’t know,” Dion continued. “The vocal cords are muscles, and the heart is also a muscle. This is what comes to get me. Because [Dion’s condition is a] one out of a million case, the scientists haven’t done that much research because it didn’t affect that many people.”
Representatives for Celine Dion did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment

First of all, I hope God will get her through her struggle, she has a beautiful voice.
But "stiff person syndrome"?
Is this the new medical speak to replace old terms as "Multiple Sclrosis" or "Lou Gehrig's Disease" also known as "ALS"
I'm not an MD, and God bless Celine in her struggle.

Very sad when bad things happen to good people.

My dad just passed on Thanksgiving from Lou Gehrig’s. His entire body became stiff and he could not speak or swallow in the last phase.

The condition has been recognized for many years. Formerly known as “Stiff Man Syndrome.” PC language changed “man” to “person.”

I don’t know the medical nuances, between, MS, ALS(Lou Gehrig’s disease), or Stiff Man(person) Syndrome, but all the symptoms sound the same.

not a good person. Look up her clothing line aimed at children.

When we lived in Vegas my ex worked for the Celine show at Caesars palace. Celine is a hilarious and humble person. You’d never believe she has the gift that she has. (I guess being the 15th of 15 kids will do that to you).
This is really sad.

Is this the new medical speak to replace old terms as "Multiple Sclrosis" or "Lou Gehrig's Disease" also known as "ALS" Nope. Making it very very simple Multiple Sclerosis is your nervous system breaking down, ALS is your muscles failing, in SPS your muscles seem to go into spasms rather then weaken.

In this particular case, I’ll cut the PC police a break.
This disease is more common in women than in men.

Interestingly, the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10-CM) 2024 continues to maintain Stiff-man syndrome. No Stiff Person syndrome in title or sub-header, or description.
