Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis took the College Football Playoff committee to task Tuesday, slamming its decision to exclude the undefeated Florida State football team from the four-team playoff.
DeSantis, speaking at a news conference to detail his proposed $114.4 billion budget for Florida, said he is asking for $1 million to let Florida State sue the CFP committee even though the championship will be decided months before a budget is approved. The semifinals are set for Jan. 1, with the championship game to be played Jan. 8.
"My first-grader, my fifth-grader and my preschooler ... they are all Noles and they are big-time fans and they do the tomahawk chop and they were not happy," DeSantis said. "We are going to set aside $1 million and let the chips fall where they may." DeSantis' recommendation is simply a suggestion to the Florida Legislature, which will begin its annual session next month. Once the Legislature agrees on a spending plan, DeSantis will have power to veto individual items.

‘and last year’s Florida State, TCU, was also let in and they lost 65-7, costing ESPN a fortune in ratings.’
FSU wasn’t in last year; georgia was...and the 65-7 result was a prime contributor to not letting another clearly non competitive team in...
They had a weak schedule.
If anyone was screwed it was GA.
If FSU was in, I’d be rooting for them, but I think they picked the correct 4.
And if FSU was in, I’d give them almost no chance to win.
And I doubt they’ll beat Georgia unless a bunch of Georgia seniors decide to skip the game.
There’s n way they picked the correct four. Alabama struggled t be .500 and unranked teams. If it was just about the best four, Georgia should have been in ahead of them. Or Ohio State, and probably Oregon. They are not supposed to pick based ff what happened in past year.
Everyone was screwed, because the head of the SEC is a bully.
“CFP expanding to 12 teams next year”.
That will end the discussion of the 5th team left out.
If you’re the 13th place team. Tough Sh8t. Nobody cares.
Next year will be fun with a 12-team playoff.
Would have been 12 team playoff this year if ACC and BIG had gotten on board. Since FL St. Is ACC, they appear to have themselves to blame
TCU defeated Michigan which defeated Ohio State the other team in the four team playoff. I guess you forgot.
Assuming FSU shows up to play Georgia, we will see the weakness of the ‘Noles case. Punters heavily favor Georgia in early betting. If they are right, and FSU takes a beating, anyone who complained about Texas and Alabama in the playoffs will look foolish.
Ron has shown us that he is not Presidential material
These playoffs are ruining college football. They should go back to bowl games. College football has become boring. What’s the point if it’d just minor league football.
The winner of Georgia/Florida State will be the true National Champion.
My statement is just as valid as saying the ESPN winner will be.
