If you are worried about gun control in America, you would not want to be an Israeli citizen.
There are recent headlines and talk about Israel relaxing gun control laws and arming citizens since the Hamas terrorist attacks October 7th. But these narratives can be deceiving. One Israeli tactical expert, Yonatan Stern, has exposed some concerning actions on behalf of the Israeli government that tell a different story.
Yonatan Stern was born in Israel in 1984, and joined the Israeli police at age 16, after growing up in Hebron, where he witnessed constant terror attacks. At age 18, he joined the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), where he served for three years. He then attended college, where he studied government and counter-terrorism operations before moving to the United States in 2007. Several years later he founded the Cherev Gidon Israeli Tactical Training Academy. Cherev Gidon means “sword of Gideon,” referring to the military leader, judge and prophet whose victory over the Midianites is recounted the Book of Judges in the Hebrew Bible. Stern brings a unique approach to firearms training that aims to address weak spots that he has identified in Americans’ firearm habits.
Is Israel Truly Willing to Give Citizens the Right to Self-Defense?
According to Stern, “almost nobody is allowed to own guns at all” in Israel. But most citizens enter the Israeli military at 18, and they are issued a rifle. Americans who enter the military are also issued rifles, but the difference is that American soldiers aren’t permitted to keep their rifles in their possession off base. “But in Israel it doesn’t work like that, in Israel, the soldiers usually leave their bases carrying their rifles with them,” says Stern. Upon discharge from the IDF, however, the rifle is taken from the Israeli soldier...

Look what happens when the good guys have gun control and the bad guys don’t.
Keep in mind that Israel is more liberal than Jewish in its practices. The Founding Fathers created a more Torah observant nation than those who founded Israel.
A filthy gun control government is unworthy of defending or obeying.
This was quite some time ago. An Israeli friend* had a gun permit, and it is a permit and not a license. To keep it he was supposed to show up at classes each year. He missed the class one year. The police showed up at his door and confiscated his gun.
* He had been a soldier in the IDF and was well trained.
This is an interesting misconception that many Americans have regarding Israelis and gun ownership.
I know this because I was also under the same misconception that Israelis were allowed greater latitude than Americans when it comes to keeping and bearing arms.
I was dismayed and confused to find out that this isn’t the case. I fell for the descriptions of Israelis who took the bus to work with an Uzi slung over the shoulder.
But it appears to have been propaganda.
My next thought was, propaganda by whom? Israel? Probably, to give the impression over the years that they were armed and dangerous, when they weren’t.
I got my LTC after 9/11, and in my state the local Chief of Police has the discretion to grant or not grant the request, so you have to write a statement on why you wish to have an LTC. (I know-this is an infringement)
The reason I gave was terrorism. Of course, I am one of those who believes we should be able to own any type of firearm, and carry it openly and freely everywhere, but I gave the reason of terrorism instead.
One of the distinguishing marks of a FREE PEOPLE is the right to keep and bear arms. ALL GUN LAWS EVERYWHERE should be ABOLISHED.
Excellent article. Since October 7, my eyes have really been opened as to the gun ownership situation in Israel. Like most everyone else, I did think that Israelis carried guns everywhere they went. It would only make sense that they did.
The Israeli government should re-think that policy.
I know. I was in the same boat as you, and was surprised to find out it isn’t true.
I don’t fall into the same trap when it comes to females in the Israeli Defense Force.
The Left (and some on the right) trumpet that we should follow the example of the IDF when it comes to females in combat because, according to them, it has a fully integrated military.
I was skeptical, but relieved to find out the Israelis had tinkered with it many years ago and saw the truth that females should NOT serve in direct combat units.
Anyone with common sense knows this, but we also recognize that if there were a full shooting war and the Israelis were losing, like any rational nation, they would use every single asset in desperate combat to turn the tide, and that includes females in combat as well.
During the COVID fiasco, Israel pretty much revealed itself as a Nazi country. WGAF if they allow their subjects to defend themselves.
Both governments (Israeli and Hamas) want disarmed Israeli citizens. So ho is the good guy and who is the bad guy?
For that matter, there isn’t a government in the world that wouldn’t disarm it’s citizens if they could.
I totally agree.. Especially when every politician has a bodyguard complete with sub-machine gun protection 24/7.. If that's what he needs, well then, that's exactly what I need.!
There isn’t a politician alive that believes his/her life isn’t worth more than yours.
It should be a requirement that everyone who is of age, learn to use, and own a gun, and be ready and willing to use it whenever terrorism strikes.
D9nt the Swiss require their citizens to own guns and be a part of the military for an assigned time?
Hars to be,even that israel is so strict on gun laws when the right to self defense comes from God, and not the govenrment!
Correct. grabem newsome would be jealous. When this issue is over, any bets the progs in Israel push to return to the uber restrictive rules?

Agreed! Our Founding fathers felt the same way too! I have many of their quotes on guns in my profile page- they knew it was essential for citizens to own and keep guns in order to defeat ALL enemies both foreign and domestic, and 5o protect the citizenry from a government gone rogue
I heard that is a right wing lie to make folks think they’re in danger. 😳👍

I will say though that there was a female group who repelled hamas and saved the citizens of a certain town when hamas attacked- but yeah, watch8ng a video the other days where 4 overweight female cops tried to subdue 1 skinny runt, and they couldn’t even manage to get his arm behind him to handcuff him and he took off running. It was a vivid demonstration that MOST women are not strong enough to do the jobs that men do, and shouldn’t be in those jobs when people’s lives depend on strength and speed. While there are some women who are an exception, they are far and few between.
And NO WAY should we be relaxing military fitness requirements just to acc9modate feminists who falsely claim that women are just as good at men at physical jobs. IF there are some women who can make the cut without the reduction of the requirements, then fine, hop 9n board, but the majority of women can’t make the cut- relaxing the requirements in order to pass women who aren’t nearly as strong as men is putting lives on the line
Exactly! Had the people who were attacked been allowed to carry, they could have at least put up a fight, and once they saw people parachuting into the festivities, and recognized what7 they were doing, they could have shot them while they hung in the air and likely saved many lives.
The fact that themcrowd was unarmed led to a mass slaughter of innocents who had no,way to defend themselves and others. Their only hope was that one of the gunmen got shot by another gunman, and they were able to retrieve the gun and use it themselves agaisnt the bad guys- but, had they done so, knowing israel’s unr3al gun policies, I wouldn’t put it past israel to then charge the good guy with “unlawful use of a gun” after all was said and done.
Keep in mind that Israel is more liberal than Jewish in its practices. The Founding Fathers created a more Torah observant nation than those who founded Israel.

Abortion and LGBT are other signs of modern secular Israel. Without the Biblical guarantee of its continued existence, Israel would be doomed. Somehow, our Biblical God is going to pull Israel out of the fire. Not so sure about the USA.
