Chevrolet Launches Holiday Commercial and, Yep, it’s a Tear-Jerker

The holidays are a time of joy and merriment. They’re also a time to be in our feels, and sometimes that’s really, really depressing.We’re not going to get all sappy on you, but even car folks shed a tear from time to time. Usually it’s from banging our fingers against the inner wall of a steel fender, sometimes it’s from selling off that project you swore you’d never sell, and every so often it’s because of a commercial. You know, a real tear-jerker.

Chevrolet has chopped the proverbial onions right in front of us a number of times now, and today they’ve aired their 2023 A Holiday to Remember longform TV spot.

That is nice, but it does not beat the ultimate Chevy Christmas commercial.

My first car was the old family ‘69 Suburban. I could have stormed Poland in that beast.

My first car was an ‘62 MG Midget. There wasn’t enough room in the tiny dash to accommodate a tape deck so the PO had one (a Craig 8-track as I recall) installed into the bulkhead between the “back seat” area and the trunk.

Changing tapes was always an adventure ;’}

I never expected it to really be a tear jerker.

That is hands down, the best car commercial I have ever seen.

I drove many of those model year Suburbans as they were the missile crew vehicles. Drove many miles through Kansas getting out to the missile complexes.

I also lost my Dad to Alzheimer’s over 16 years ago. I’m glad I was alone just now when I watched it. A grown man crying.

I would’ve used the 57 Chevy. Turquoise blue white leather interior. That would’ve had me crying. Uncontrollably.

Actually, $62k isn’t bad for what’s been done, IF all underside rust and floors are OK. I just don’t like it lowered that much, unless it’s on adjustable airbags. Take a magnet, wrapped in a cloth, and run it over the front, back, sides and underpanels to check for steel vs ‘mud’ body repairs. (old body shop trick)

Aside from rust problems, those things would almost run forever.

This is probably the best commercial I have seen all year.

It’s more than a one tissue for sure.

They didn’t show how they had to be helped up. Gravity is not a friend to the frail elderly! Lol
