New Orleans mayor suggests investigations against her driven by race: 'Prevalent relative to Black leadership'

Mayor LaToya Cantrell of New Orleans remarked how targeted Black leadership appeared to be while addressing federal investigations against her on Wednesday.

During one of the mayor’s latest press conferences, Cantrell, a Democrat, was asked whether she received a target letter related to ongoing investigations against her for ethical violations. While she did not respond to the question directly, she commented on her history of investigations.

"What I will say, as it relates to investigations, targeting all of that, and as I’ve given it thought… when I came in, even being elected mayor and even prior to that, the city council, I've been a center of countless investigations," Cantrell said. "I have always complied, and that's what I will continue to do."

"I do know that this seems to be kind of prevalent relative to Black leadership and I think that I'm not exempt from that," the mayor continued. "But relative to investigations, I've been in them. I've been through them, and I'll continue to comply however they come. That’s all I have to say on that."

The Louisiana Board of Ethics on Oct. 31 accused Cantrell of upgrading to first-class on city-funded flight tickets during her flights in 2022, which violates state law and city travel policy. According to New Orleans city policy, government employees are required to purchase the lowest airfare possible or reimburse the city for accommodations considered deluxe. The charges aren't criminal.

When these allegations were first introduced in 2022, Cantrell argued the COVID-19 threat caused her to fly first-class in some instances and also cited security concerns.

"Anyone who wants to question how I protect myself just doesn’t understand the world Black women walk in," Cantrell said previously.

Mayor Cantrell is right, but only if a lack of ethics is a characteristic of black leaders.

For some reason in the mayor’s circle, WP behavior is shunned and CP behavior is the norm.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell of New Orl
eans remarked how “targeted” Black leadership appeared to be while addressing non-criminal federal investigations against her, allegations first introduced in 2022.

Cantrell argued the COVID-19 threat caused her to screw taxpayers and
ignore city rules by flying first-class, citing her personal security concerns.

She then played her all-purpose race card: “Anyone who wants to question how I protect myself just doesn’t understand the world Black women walk in,” Cantrell said as she took a swig of Mountain Dew.

Oh, whine. This constant dirge is tiresome. It must be terrible, to always move in a funeral march.

Get some gumption, lady. It is NOT because you’re black, it is entirely because you have never recognized that you are in the United States of America, and not in some village in central Africa. Oppression was never your problem, it is a lack of empathy and poorly developed judgment that have your major handicaps.

Affirmative action never works. An ethic of never trying to strive for the best, and a false sense of entitlement, means that persons who have rarely been challenged somehow bob to the top, like a floater in a toilet bowl and corrupt the atmosphere for those who truly do possess a good measure of merit.

Nice rant.

The prevailing ethic minorities have concocted to save themselves is bleating about a “sense of entitlement,.....reparations in the raw.....anyway they can get them..... by persons who loathe being challenged.

I see a lot of cream in that coffee.

I can guess what the “C” stands for on her necklace, too.

That’s nothing new. Most black female mayors claim the same thing when their inane policies and race bleating don’t work. See Lori Lightfoot, for example.

You’d think the NOLA people would’ve done some serious soul searching after AA Nagin’s epic fail. Guess not.

Liberal scum of all ethnic, gender backgrounds, break laws, commit all kinds of crimes and their go to defense is I’m targeted because of my ethnic, gender background.

The crime and the decision to commit is the last thing on their mind.

I don't guess it could have anything to do with her being a crook, it's gotta be because she's black.

Sadly people like her play the race card because it works. It works because the rest of the country cowers in fear of it. If someday collectively America grows a backbone and stops cowering to the race card then crooks like her will stop playing it, I'm not holding my breath however.

Well that’s new. I’ve never seen the race card thrown before. Well, not in the last .00002 seconds anyway.

Then put it up for a vote in the New Orleans City Council.

Change the law to read:

“Government employees are required to purchase the lowest airfare possible or reimburse the city for accommodations considered deluxe. Government employees identifying as black women will be excluded from this policy.”

It’s hard to name one uncorrupt, competent black woman in politics today. Virtually every black woman with political power has abused it for personal gain. Black female politicians are utter failures.

Isn’t New Orleans where a Democrat politician diverted a National Guard truck to his flooded house — where he picked up CASH from his freezer?
