What noble cause was Vietnam for? It was a stupid war, and the protests against that war were right.
Texting is GREAT when I want to say “I’m on my way, ETA 30 minutes” and don’t need a long phone conversation to say that. But when text lovers try to have what SHOULD be a phone conversation with me via text, I call them. If it goes straight to voicemail, the conversation is over. I’m not carrying on a convoluted discussion with my thumbs.
“There was a generation after The Greatest and before The Boomers….We are often forgotten”
The marketing people who invented these labels called you “The Silent Generation”.
A lot of the 1960s uproar that gets blamed on Boomers was actually fomented by red diaper radicals from The Silent Generation. Plus Joe Biden is one of yours, lol.
lol Exactly! Thanks!
Yup.
Life has never had any guarantees, but at one time, if you worked really hard, you could likely climb that corporate ladder. The company could spot a winner, and they’d help you climb if you had the right stuff. The perks, the pension, the corner office, the big paycheck — it was all there if you made the sacrifices and showed that you were deserving.
Young people today understand that almost no one is going to get any of those prizes. No perks. No pension. No corner office. Big wages aren’t there. The corporation may demand that you work super hard. But the corporation has no intention of giving anything in return.
The kids are on to the game.
If you can not figure out why this "writer" would be fired you need to be retrofitted with glasses.
You hired me to work 9 hours a day and I work 12- to 15-hours a day doing your damned job
No, you work about thirty minutes a day, spending the rest of the time staring at your nitwit phone watching other people whining.
Bye.
I fall into the category of, “Milennial”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I haven’t figured out what category I am yet, born June 29, 1945.
Either a very old “Boomer” or a very young “Greatest Generation”
Lucky that your father came home on leave in October of '44?
My doctor was shocked, I kept working during my relapse of colitis. He kept bringing that up every time I saw him. He said that you don’t see that kind of work ethic anymore. I just told him I had to make a living.
LOL Didn’t say anything about the writer but, if I did, I would say she needs to be fired because all she did was feed a bunch of posts from Buzzfeed and touches of Reddit into Chat GPT and let AI write for her. But then again, her “editor” probably does the same thing and so on and so on and so on, right up the chain!
I will always insist there such thing as a stupid question and a wrong answer.
Exactly, this is why I can’t stand Generation Z or Millenials for that matter.
The latest trend...
You send a text.
The reply is;
“Liked;...”
No communicating whatsoever in this.
If you go into a Medicare office the waiting room will be 'a third filled' with old people and two thirds filled with young people seeking a lifetime of Social Security 'disability' - most are in their late twenties.
Rumor was years ago that anyone who had the aids virus - (even when it was a nothing burger) - got free lifetime social security payments. And they could still hold wait staff type jobs where most cash was not claimed.
Maybe Social Security Disability is so common in this age group that it just means a low paying job with zero responsibility...
You are of the “silent generation” the people who gave us the 60s, and people like Audie Murphy, Martin Luther King, Jr., Gloria Steinem, eleven of the twelve astronauts who have walked on the moon were members of the Silent Generation, also Warren Buffett, Liz Claiborne, Ted Turner, Calvin Klein, and Michael Eisner.
People like, Bob Seger, Jane Fonda, John Denver, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Peter Paul & Mary, Grace Slick, Neil Young , Beatles, Van Morrison, Joan Baez, Jerry Garcia, Pete Townsend, Joe Cocker, Judy Collins, Jimmy Page, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Williams Ayers, Bernadette Dohrn, Chicago Seven, Rod Stewart, Abbie Hoffman, Hunter S. Thompson, Malcom X, Charles Manson, Brian Wilson, The Beatles, and the Rolling Stones, the Jefferson Airplane, and the Mamas and the Papas, Jimmy Page, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, etc, etc, etc, just about everyone that you can name from the hippie 1960s.
“People are sharing the boomer trends...”
And these people come aross like they are just whiny little bitches. They need to get a life and quit complaining.
I know that identifies me as a boomer.
I always worked hard and did extra, not from loyalty to the company (and I sure didn’t expect loyalty from the company!), but as a matter of self-respect.
We also agree that some companies do exploit their employees.
